we had a significant security incident during evaluation of our models. we are sharing what we have learned so far. thanks to @huggingface for the partnership on this.

The AAA Steam wishlist is a bookmark, not a basket. (@alineaanalytics estimates):
Cheap games convert wishlisters very well. It’s pretty obvious when you say it out loud, but when you look at premium, higher-priced releases, the contrast is stark.
I've attached a freebie from our recent client-exclusive newsletter showing how premium 2026 titles convert their lists. The data speaks for itself, but I’ll speak a bit too:
- Every $69.99 title in the set converts in the low single digits at day 7, from Resident Evil Requiem at 6.1% down to Forza Horizon 6 at 2.5%. That makes sense. A wishlist on an $8 game is a decision a player can act on without thinking. A wishlist on a $70 game is the start of a much longer deliberation, and for most wishlisters it’s a deliberation that ends at “later.”
- The blockbuster numbers look alarming until you read across the bars. Crimson Desert climbs from 5.3% at day 7 to 8.8% by day 90, a relative jump of roughly two-thirds. Death Stranding 2 moves from 3.0% to 4.8%, and Resident Evil Requiem from 6.1% to 8.4%. These wishlisters are not no-shows, though.
- Price is not destiny, though. If price were the whole story, the mid-tier would be a flat band. It isn’t. At $24.99, Slay the Spire 2 converts 31.8% of its wishlists in the first week, while at $39.99 Marathon converts 4.7%, which lands it down among the $70 blockbusters rather than beside its mid-tier neighbours.
- The difference is community and proven IP: Slay the Spire 2 arrived as a polished early-access build of a long-awaited sequel to a game people already loved, so its wishlists were stacked with players who knew they wanted it. Many Marathon wishlisters hated the server test due to a terrible first-time user experience.
- Early-access wishlisters often hold off, sitting on the wishlist until 1.0 so they get notified again and buy the finished game, which means a day-7 figure for these titles is a snapshot of a launch that has not really finished. You can see it in the cluster: Subnautica 2 at 9.7%, Far Far West at 11.6%, and Windrose and Paralives both around 7.4%. Slay the Spire 2 is the exception that proves the rule.
- The biggest pile is not the best pile. The clearest example is Subnautica 2, which launched with 5.6M outstanding wishlists, comfortably the largest count here and one of the largest we have ever tracked. It converted 9.7% at day 7 (in early access, to be fair!).
The committed buyer of a $70 release treats the wishlist as exactly what the feature was built to be, a reminder to come back when the price or the moment is right. For a AAA publisher, that reframes the wishlist on a premium title. It is not a launch-day sales forecast. Rather, it’s closer to a discount-window mailing list.
Players risk nothing by wishlisting, so they wishlist on a whim and forget by the next day. None of this means wishlists are worthless for AAA. They are the visible residue of all the awareness work you did before and after launch, and they remain a genuine barometer of that.

Beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium plans, at 50% of limits.
Pro and Team Standard users will continue to have access to Fable via usage credits, and will receive a one-time $100 credit.
Demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages, extending access several times as we secured additional capacity.
