NOAA’s Hurricane Hunters just recorded a surface wind gust of ~190 MPH inside the eyewall of Hurricane Polo, while a deployed drone flying at 500 meters above sea-level measured winds exceeding 230 MPH.
We are watching one of the all-time most extreme Western Hemisphere storms on record unfold before our eyes tonight.
Extremely powerful Category 5 #HurricanePolo is continuing to churn off the coast of Mexico as the sun rises this morning. Polo is expected to approach Baja California Sur early next week. Farther west, #HurricaneOdalys can also be seen in this imagery from @NOAA's #GOESWest (#GOES18) 🛰️.

The Harvest Moon, the full Moon closest to the autumn equinox, will be visible tomorrow night. 🌕🍂
Where will you be looking up to admire it?

Just had a quick look at the running 30 day replay of Central/Eastern Pacific SST (sea surface temps). This real-time chart shows the water temps anomaly (1991-2020 climate baseline) Now, I have live thru several El Niño events, but this one takes the cake thus far-unreal
This sight was worth getting out of bed early. Just over four years ago, Comet C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE) rose before dawn to the delight of northern sky enthusiasts awake that early. Up before sunrise on July 8th, the featured photographer was able to capture in dramatic fashion one of the few comets visible to the unaided eye this century, an inner-Solar System intruder that has become known as the Great Comet of 2020. The resulting video detailed Comet NEOWISE from Italy rising over the Adriatic Sea. The featured time-lapse video combines over 240 images taken over 30 minutes. The comet was seen rising through a foreground of bright and undulating noctilucent clouds, and before a background of distant stars. Comet NEOWISE remained unexpectedly bright for over a month, with its ion and dust tails found to emanate from a nucleus spanning about five kilometers across.

September 14, 2015 went down in history.
That is, in fact, the day the @LIGO researchers first detected a gravitational wave signal, "labeled" as GW150914.

🌊🌀 The 53rd WRS “Hurricane Hunters” and @NAVOCEANO_SSC supported the @USNavyResearch SASCWATCH project by dropping ocean buoys ahead of Hurricane Lowell.
Videos show buoy drops and the red dots show buoy movement as the storm approaches. The buoys measure winds, waves, pressure and sea-surface temperature—revealing how hurricane winds impact waves and modulate hurricane intensity.

@Marcin360@Jess__1010 What is up with the price hike on GOG? It even has a ticking clock, "Buy now or pay double in two days" !! (-_-;) #Witcher@CDPROJEKTRED wants our coin i guess
