Where it all begins! These little flowers will grow in to pods containing seeds that are fermented and dried to become cacao beans. I took this photo last year when I visited some farms in Peru, hopefully one day I'll be able to go back!

Cacao trees are an evergreen from the Malvaceae family - This makes the cacao bean a vegetable.
Sure, when you add the milk, sugar, and other flavors it's not so much a vegetable anymore but hey, it's good enough for us!
