Pelumi Onifade picked up a camera on October 24, 2020, and did the one thing Nigeria can never forgive a young journalist for. He told the truth on film.
He captured Olusegun Abiodun Bolarinwa, President of the Yoruba Youth Forum, firing a gun into a crowd of EndSARS protesters at Abule Egba. Live and Unedited which no one can deny. The footage that proved a politician shot at unarmed citizens.
Hours later, Pelumi is wounded and dragged into a Task Force van wearing a jacket that says PRESS. Days later, his family finds his corpse in a mortuary 33km from where he was taken.
Six years later, DNA finally confirms what every Nigerian on Twitter knew in November 2020. The man he filmed is still walking free. Nobody has been prosecuted or arrested.
This is the entire story of journalism in Nigeria in one sentence: the man with the gun lives, the man with the camera dies.
And NUJ. Where is the union supposed to exist for exactly this. A reporter is murdered for capturing evidence against a politician, and the body sits unidentified for six years, and the union’s contribution is a report co-authored with an NGO that nobody outside press circles ever reads.
If a young intern with no institutional backing could be brave enough to point a camera at a man firing live rounds, the least the union representing thousands of journalists could do is point a finger at the system that let his killer walk.

Allowing this wicked, vile, greedy, nepotistic, heartless and glutinous family to assume the reigns of power in Nigeria will haunt this country for decades.
You want people to take student loan to go to university then when they graduate, they should start roasting corn by the roadside to sell.
A future of selling roadside corn is what these evil animals in power envisage for people in this country.
Satanic olodo uprising in power.
The can fund Hajj.
They can fund bandits.
They can fund data boys.
They can fund Jerusalem.
They can fund propaganda.
They can fund Fake Bishops.
They can fund campaign rice.
They can fund presidential jet.
They can fund GO TO COURT!
They can fund campaign buses.
They can fund presidential yacht.
They can fund Akpabio & gluttons.
They can fund repentant terrorists.
They can fund thugs & vote buying.
They can fund City Boys Movement.
They can fund Julius Abure, Lamidi Apapa, Nafiu Bala, Arabambi, & their counterprotests.
They won’t fund International Maths Olympiad for the kids of nobodies to become somebodies
That’s the wickedness in high places the Bible told us about. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV). They will never fund the emancipation of the people. They want you poor, uneducated, & beggarly.
Nigeria is the worst torture in the world. That’s where a dream dies & is buried. Your place of birth determines how far you go in life. Being born a Nigerian, life already led you 10-nil.
Ten Nigerian athletes were excluded from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics because the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) failed to meet the strict anti-doping testing requirements that were necessary to clear them for competition.
Favour Ofili was omitted from the Paris 2024 Olympic 100m because the AFN & the Nigerian Olympic Committee failed to register her for that event, despite the sprinter’s qualification.
Nigeria’s relay teams were disqualified from the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo because Visa delays & administrative failures forced the country to withdraw from the World Relays in China, a critical qualification event.
These are some of the many ways that Nigeria can happen to anyone without even apologizing
Nigeria is trauma & trepidation. Realizing there is nothing you can do — makes it even worse!
We have money to pay terrorists.
We have money to pay for hajj.
We have money to pay for Jerusalem trips. We have money to pay for mass weddings. We have money to pay for propaganda. We have money to pay for people to roast corn at the roadside. We have money to buy campaign buses and paint G-Wagons in APC colours. We have money to buy votes but not to deliver good governance. We have money to pay fat overfed useless senators.
But we don’t have money to pay for our young students to go for the renowned international mathematics Olympiad.
These current animals in power are the worst form of wicked demons ever dispatched from Hell against this country.
It’s so sad to say this:
But it’s almost as if everyone that died for EndSARS and during EndSARS died in vain. It’s really so sad to say this.
But to see people in 2026 now defend the same demonic murderous satanic APC that slaughtered all these young people is quite saddening.
The revelation yesterday that: A DNA test result confirmed that a previously unidentified body was that of journalist Pelumi Onifade further shows the horrifiying level of violence unleashed on protesters and journalists during #EndSARS protests in October 2020.
Nigerian police attached to the Lagos State Task Force deliberately killed the 20-year-old journalist, Pelumi Onifade on Saturday October 24 2020. His body was later dumped at the mortuary of General Hospital Ikorodu Lagos.
Pelumi Onifade, was a 200-level student of the Department of History, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State. He was an intern with GboahTV - an online television.
Eye witnesses said on that day, while covering one of the scenes of #EndSARS protest alongside other journalists in Ikeja they saw Pelumi sustain gunshot wounds. While in the pool of his own blood and while clearly wearing a press jacket police dragged his body into their van.
The case of Pelumi Onifade is just one of many shocking atrocities committed by Nigeria's security agencies during #EndSARS protests.
