This has chess match written all over it, and I’ve spent two days in the numbers on this one. Everyone remember the 2022 Semis, but this Morocco side is different: they took the game to Brazil in transition, out-created Netherlands, and they’ve shown they want the ball, holding 60 percent possession in three of five games this tournament. When they chase or push a game, their corner count climbs with it, and France concedes territory in defensive transition more than their clean sheets suggest. Full card drops tomorrow, but the appetizer is Morocco team corners over, live at a number I think underprices how much of this game Morocco actually plays on the front foot.

🇪🇸 Spain vs Belgium 🇧🇪
This is quietly the most lopsided matchup left on the board. Spain hasn’t conceded a goal in five games at this World Cup, and it’s not luck: opponents are averaging 0.32 xG per game against them, and Portugal’s 0.91 in the Round of 16 is the best anyone has managed. Belgium’s path runs through transition moments, but their record against elite defenses tells you how that usually goes: half a goal per game across their last six matchups with top opposition. Spain’s attack profiles almost identically against Belgium’s mid-block as it did against Portugal, and that game only stayed at 1-0 because of finishing, not chance creation. I’ll have the full breakdown coming before kickoff, and if the spread market settles where I think it will, Spain minus the goals is going to be the headline play.

🇳🇴 Norway vs England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
The most watchable quarterfinal on the slate. Norway walked into a knockout game against Brazil and took 60 percent of the ball, something nobody had on their card, and they have now out-finished their xG in every sample I can build going back two years. England showed a completely different face against Mexico, winning ugly in transition after cruising through a soft group, and Friday they get a Norway defense that has bled real chances to every top attack it has faced, 2.5 xG to Brazil and 2.0 to Senegal. Two teams that can score in multiple game states, a back line that does not clear crosses, and knockout corner counts running well above what the group stage gave us. Full card drops once I finish the model work, but if the goal and corner totals settle anywhere near where they opened, I am leaning over on both.

🇦🇷 Argentina vs Switzerland 🇨🇭
This matchup is cleaner than their round-of-16 grinds suggested. Argentina has put up 2.45 or better in expected goals four straight games against every shape of opponent, including Austria, the one team they faced that plays anything like the Swiss do. Switzerland’s tournament defense looks stingy on paper, but that record was built against group-stage attacks, and in qualifying they leaked nearly two goals a game whenever they stepped up in class. The market has Argentina’s team total priced like a coin flip. I don’t think it should be.
