Many thought Japan was the epitome of low birth rate society but little did they know Japan is actually the best of East Asia in keeping TFR above 1. Families with more than 2 kids are very common in suburban and rural Japan but the common issue of high % of unmarried people in cities bring down the TFR.
I could probably write a pretty active blog about all my observations regarding Japan and western impressions of the country, but I can do the same thing with a single comment:
