The Uganda Red Cross Society joins the people of Tooro, the Royal Family, and the people of Uganda in mourning the passing of His Majesty Rukirabasaija Omusinga Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

His Majesty’s passing is a profound loss to the Kingdom of Tooro and to the nation. We extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro, and all those who mourn this great loss!

At this difficult time, the Uganda Red Cross Society stands in solidarity with the bereaved and affected communities, offering our thoughts, compassion and prayers.

Today, I had the privilege of witnessing the handover of two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance units from the Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) to the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) at the UIA offices.

The ambulances were procured through the strong partnership between the two institutions, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening emergency medical services and expanding access to life-saving care across Uganda.

I extend my sincere appreciation to the members of the Uganda Insurers Association, whose collective contribution of UGX 300 million made this initiative possible.
Partnerships like these demonstrate the power of collaboration in building stronger, more resilient communities and ensuring that help reaches those who need it most, in time.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Uganda Red Cross Society continues to strengthen safety and preparedness in schools by providing first aid training to learners and school staff.

Yesterday, our team conducted a first aid training session at Standard SS, Ntungamo, equipping participants with essential life-saving skills to respond effectively to emergencies before professional medical help arrives.

By empowering school communities with first aid knowledge, we are building safer, more resilient learning environments where every second can make a difference.

First aid saves lives. Together, we are creating a culture of preparedness in our schools.
