Raising a venture fund in a challenged market is a fantastic exercise.

It makes you understand precisely what limited partners (family offices, sovereign wealth funds, HNWIs, and endowments) are each struggling with and focused on, and all the hype and distractions have been removed... we're back to basics: DPI, strategy, competitive advantage, and liquidity.

I've been in a lucky position to raise our last three funds from my network, but with LAUNCH4, we've decided to invite a wider base of LPs to join us... and getting to know so many new limited partners has been a huge effort and education.

We've built a "capital formation" function inside our organization for the first time, which will be helpful over the next decade.

Thanks to all my friends for educating me on how this all works! Climbing to the summit for fund four... and then back to grindstone investing for 30 months before LAUNCH5!
