I'm sure they did a great job and may Allah reward them for their efforts & intentions but..

"This House Believes That The West is Right to be Suspicious of Islam".

I still heavily disagree with these debate titles/topics as it inherently puts us on the defensive as if we have to explain ourselves out of a default & justified suspicion and this only normalizes people assuming this is a legitimate question that Non-Muslims should, could reasonably ask us, in the West or otherwise.

This coincides with what even Non-Muslims correctly point out like Todd Green in his great book "Presumed Guilty: Why We Shouldn't🚫Ask Muslims to Condemn Terrorism"

NO other religion has this preliminary suspicion levied against it like our Dīn does but Alhamdulillah I guess that we "won"?🤷🏽‍♂️

"Should Muslim countries be suspicious of Christianity/Judaism/Hinduism/Buddhism?"

"Should the West be suspicious of [insert literally ANY Religion outside Islām]?

When's the last time you saw these debate titles? I can't remember even ONE and I watch most religious Debates

If the title was "Is the West right to be suspicious of Judaism?", NO University would platform it and you'd be labeled Antiseptic on the spot for even suggesting such a topic!

I still wouldn't publicly entertain the question at all *regardless* of who's representing the Ummah/Islām.
We can educate our Western Neighbors on what Islām is and what it's not without being on the defensive.

I can see this EXACT topic debated STILL, 15years from now in another University where Muslims are fighting uphill, again,...needlessly

Moreover, we have to know our role as Creation in relation to a CREATOR.
