@C_Gardner55@WhoDeyLEX@TheAthleticFC they did not even give an official reason for this decision mate. Pure mafia shit
and no, rules also quite literally state that red card = suspension, as done for every single one of them in world cup history
finally, many football commentators think it was a fair red card
@Dtemp91@0xSearchie@ChrisVannini Consistency is exactly why this is a mess. Soft reds happen every week but they don't get on "probation" because a head of state calls Infantino. If decision is changing via political phone calls instead of the actual referee committee, the competition loses all integrity
@Dtemp91@JTee0099@MLShater There's a massive difference between standard appeal processes and a literal political intervention. The red card was soft, but letting geopolitical power dictate squad availability completely undermines the tournament. Where does FIFA draw the line after this?
@Jacksburneracc9@Dtemp91@TheAthleticFC i repeat, there is no consensus about the fact that there was an error to be corrected in first place
i'm not sure this "appeal" been made within rules, literally never happend for a red card to be removed like this
then, still, what's next? political bargain for each decision?
@Dtemp91@bobbybsmith83@RBPundit i'm not sure you understand what sport means
if you do corruption to favour your team, there is absolutely no pride in winning anymore; what's the point
but sure, enjoy it; make you own special rules for yourself so that you can pretend usa is relevant in football
@Dtemp91@bobbybsmith83@RBPundit yes, exactly, you should stfu and accept it
sports outcome should not be dependent on what team has the most political leverage
@Dtemp91@TheAthleticFC That's lying to say there's a consensus the referee made a mistake.
Even so you must accept the decision, there will always be controversial decisions, and it's not up to politics to decide the outcome, but to the referee (or appeal system etc).
here it was pure politics
@Dtemp91@TheAthleticFC how so, i'm curious?
i think it's pathetic to try to rig what is supposed to be a harmless, unifying sports event
prove me wrong
