5yo daughter’s teacher called her “a mathematician” yesterday.
She was so excited to tell us when she got home and said it was the best thing about her day. She spent the evening doing number bonds independently & absolutely loving it.
Never underestimate the power your words.
Yes! Flexible working can be good for the individual member of staff AND good for the school where they work, if this is positively navigated. @Mumsyme's chapter in @WomenEd's third book: https://t.co/DzThtPAN37 @CorwinPress 2/2
"Schools need to retain & recruit staff, promote staff wellbeing & diversity, & may potentially need to streamline costs & maximise productive efficiency to cope with financial pressures. Flexible working can make a positive contribution to all these areas." @Mumsyme in 👇
Jess never gave up hope, despite the worst prognosis. Her vitality buzzed like sparking electricity in the room. Medics wept & marvelled at her. When young people die, despite their enduring determination, bells in every corner of the country should ring celebrating them.🧵10/10
I'd like to bring something that it's crucial about Gisele Pelicot's case: she is the so called "perfect victim" that men can't dismiss anymore. I'll explain: men can't say "she was wearing this/that", "she provoked them", "she put herself in this situation," "she wanted it." 1/
Burnout isn't about hours worked.
In fact, there are usually much deeper causes.
Leaders should start to recognize when it's occurring,
And take steps to help.

Fantastic to hear @bphillipsonMP acknowledge @BBCr4today that a key part of fixing retention is a focus on the biggest group that leave teaching each year - women in their thirties - often coinciding with when they become mothers (8.18am)

Wow… Pretty emotional over here seeing my chapter published in an actual book! Sitting alongside so many other wonderfully #DisruptiveWomen
Thank you @WomenEd@ViviennePorritt
Flexible working is so important, but more needs to be done ensure it is a sustainable solution!
Are you an ECT who works flexibly?
Have you mentored an ECT who was working flexibly?
Can you please give us a 👋🏼? We are looking for an example for something we are working on. 🙏🏼 @FlexTeachTalent@MrTs_NQTs@mtpt_project@TF_Ambassadors
@criminographer It’s hard to imagine that such a short life could be so very important as hers has been. Isabelle’s role in your family, the hope and love and joy she brought through the most terrible of times. Very much an angel sent to you for a reason. Such a heartbreaking time for you all. X
Any District 15 @NEU members in the @mtpt_project community? I'm doing a thing and would hugely appreciate your support and vote🗳️ (District 15= Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Enfield, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Sutton) #voteRosie#supportparentmembers
Love it when @TeacherTapp do the teaching population a huge favour by reminding us to check our pensions!! 🫶🏼
I’ve had a number of errors in my service record to sort over the years.
Particularly important if you’ve been on maternity leave or worked part time! @mtpt_project
Exodus of new mums fuels teacher shortage in schools - BBC News - This is so sad and it really doesn’t have to be like this. There are so many ways to be #flexible in education. @WomenEd https://t.co/sBdx0D8X3k
