Public space tweet :-) Memorial University has a huge footprint in St. John's and some of our most important spaces. IMHO many could be used much better. Share your ideas!

As offered in many major cities and universities across Canada, a U-Pass program relies on a high number of participants and can be offered at a discounted price compared to a student semester bus pass.
Improving transit use for the university community could have a big impact in terms of reducing the number of people who drive to campus and the supply of parking lots which could be transformed into green spaces.
We are forming an action team to build a campaign around implementing a U-PASS at Memorial University and having our first meeting TONIGHT at 7pm to discuss.
Send us a message if you would like to join or get on our listserv for updates on our work 🚌🚌

Tuned into the Transit Town Hall hosted by @MUN_CAC now.
Stoodley reflects that if @MUNSU35 had led the UPass efforts and worked with Metrobus to design a program that students wanted, maybe the vote would have been successful.

In 2019 Memorial University students voted on a U-Pass, a bus pass that would be incorporated into the cost of tuition. The proposed U-Pass was cheaper than what is currently offered by Metrobus and promised new routes as well.
Join us for an upcoming webinar! Moving forward with transit @MemorialU following the U-Pass vote with @SarahlStoodley@liam_nfld & Jordan Wright. #nltraffic
