997 days since the December 2023 understanding when 5 Day Banking Promise was agreed in written.
Digital payments are 99.7% of transaction volume. Cheques, 2.3% of value. RBI, LIC & GIC already work five days.And Bankers offered 40 extra minutes a weekday for it. Despite everything they failed to keep the promise. A signed commitment is not a suggestion but an obligation.

Read the revised PLI matrix carefully.
In EVERY scenario — even where the Bank scores above 80% and performed magnificently — the bottom bracket receives Rs 0.
Not a reduced award. Zero!

The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.

At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.

Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.

A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

The government’s stance on #5DayBanking is like a disappearing act—first, they ‘principally agreed,’ and now, they’ve forgotten! Today’s CLC meeting brought no concrete decision, no positive outcome—so the strike stands firm!

A heartfelt thanks to CPI Kerala MP @Sandosh_CPI Ji for raising this crucial issue in #RajyaSabha. When Policymakers acknowledge our demands, it strengthens our cause. But it’s ironic—those entrusted with leading the #Banking fraternity remain cautious, while a Member of Parliament speaks up for us!

Bankers are the backbone of the economy, yet #5daybanking remains a distant dream. Add to that the unresolved issues of PLI discrimination and unfair recruitment. Words of assurance don’t run a banking system—decisive action does!

Yet another disturbing attack on a banker—this time at @UnionBankTweets in Nawada, Bihar. With rising incidents of violence against banking professionals, the absence of a dedicated legal framework has left them vulnerable to physical assaults, intimidation, and trauma. These are not isolated cases but part of a growing pattern that endangers those driving financial inclusion and economic growth.

We thank @nawadapolice, for your swift action in arresting the culprit responsible for attacking the Branch Manager. Bankers play a crucial role in serving society with integrity, often facing threats and challenges while preventing corruption. We urge the authorities to ensure strict legal action under relevant sections

It is imperative that the government enacts a #BankersProtectionAct to establish legal safeguards, ensure strict enforcement against such attacks, and provide a secure working environment for banking professionals.
