It’s not complicated. Trump doesn’t believe in democracy.
He hates democratic Europe and loves the oligarchic dictatorships in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar.
He wants to stifle dissent in the media and arrest his opponents.
ALL Americans must unify against authoritarianism.
All the signals are flashing red, the latest being @POTUS's summary dismissal of the remaining Federal Election Assistance Commission members.
Put that together with political hack Pulte's odious appt as DNI; election deniers in the most sensitive oversight positions; Trump's exec order on mail-in voting, and potential use of the Postal Service as a weapon of subversion; his pathological prioritization of the SAVE act, which would be the most powerful voter suppression tool in generations; and his persistent, unfounded claims of election fraud, which he uses to justify extraordinary federal interventions.
On the square, the @GOP would take a beating this fall, largely because of Trump's unpopularity.
So he's setting up Plan B--do whatever you need to do to win. Anything.
Anyone who says "Well, he wouldn't do THAT" hasn't paid attention. He's already proven he will!
So the period AFTER the Midterms may be even more turbulent than the run up to them.
The courts are going to be very busy this fall.
I like Mark Warner. But could we impose a ban on politicians expressing "concern?" They're elected to DO something--or at least try. Yes, even if they're in the minority. After all, one way out of the minority is to lay out clearly and fight aggressively for an alternative path.
I’ll make it easy for you: If you want ICE shooting & killing hardworking immigrants who’ve been in this country for 35 years, raising children, paying taxes, starting businesses, and becoming involved members of their community, then vote Republican in November.
If you don’t want ICE shooting & killing these hardworking immigrants, then vote Democrat this November.
The choice is that easy.
Reporter confronts Head of NATO Mark Rutte: "You sit next to Donald Trump in moments where he talks about conquering Greenland, talks about lashing out at allies like Spain, starting trade wars, things that it doesn't seem like the old Mark Rutte would approve of. Does this have any effect on your self-respect when you sit next to him and say nothing?"
.@MittRomney is no Communist. Nor is he disparaging of wealth.
But here he puts his finger on the problem:
When so MUCH wealth is accumulated in the hands of a few, and money speaks so loudly in our campaigns, it also represents a concentration of power that skews our democracy.
Democrats - knock off the stupid ideological food fight. Find someone who can speak articulately about housing and gas costs, corruption, doesn't have a Nazi tattoo, and isn't over 80. It's not that hard.
Peter Thiel, the billionaire founder of Palantir, called Pope Leo “a Chinese communist agent” for writing that AI must be used to “truly benefit the common good, and is not just used to accumulate wealth and power in the hands of a few.”
Who do you trust? Pope Leo or Mr. Thiel?
“The greatest single cause of atheism today, Christians, who acknowledge Jesus by their lips, and walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle (I’ll add… words, tweets, Trump, racism, and anger) That is what an unbelieving world simply finds, unbelievable.” Brennan Manning
I know everyone gets excited for a good trade. So do I. But personally, I’d enjoy seeing Columbus and Detroit to tell Werenski and Larkin to have a nice summer and that they’ll see them at training camp, where they’ll be expected to honor the contracts that they willingly signed.
Shoutout to all the Christians who spent the week telling Haitian refugees to go back to their country and then woke up this morning and head to church.
You're the real hypocrites.
