· 570 homicides were recorded, 3% down on previous year (585 offences)
· 9.5 victims per million population - males (14.0) almost triple that for females (5.1)

• much lower than in large US cities
• slightly higher than in Asian cities

@hundredfamilies He was originally charged with murder so they have to ‘leave it on file’ as a legal procedure after accepting guilty plea to manslaughter. Theoretically it could be revived. Not really necessary to say ‘further’ but I guess it is further in the sense it exists.

@LessCrime I’d say 1,9 for murder; 7,10 for manslaughter; 2,6,8 would class as successful interventions rather than ‘near miss’. The vehicle ones (4,5) not focused enough on person to count as near miss, though depends on evidence.

#SENTENCING | A man has been given a sentence of life imprisonment with a minimum of 41 years after he murdered Shadika Patel, aged 40, and attempted to murder a 48-year-old woman.

The unprovoked stranger attacks took place in March 2020.
