On May 21, READO organized its fifth Social Cohesion Event in commemoration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. The event, conducted under the Elevate Project funded by #KOICA through @iom_somalia , served as a platform to celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen community ties among displaced and host populations.
The event featured traditional performances reflecting the rich cultural heritage of participating communities, a food fair offering a variety of traditional dishes that promoted mutual cultural appreciation, and inter-community discussions aimed at fostering dialogue, understanding, and peaceful coexistence.
Key community members participated in the event, including the Director of @Tubsancenter in South West State (SWS), the Vice District Commissioner for Social Affairs, the Regional Vice Commissioner for Social Affairs, as well as community elders, youth representatives, and women leaders.
This inclusive event highlighted the importance of cultural diversity in promoting peace, dialogue, and development, reinforcing READO’s commitment to social cohesion and community resilience.

This week, Somali Joint Fund, @SwissEmbassyKE, @NorwayinSomalia and @NLinSomalia reps assessed the Saameynta Joint Programme's durable solutions efforts in Baidoa: community-led housing pilots; and Enterprise Development Fund support for agribusinesses; and job creation efforts.

#Saameynta has supported over 65,000 individuals (43,200 in Baidoa) with land tenure documents, livelihood opportunities, basic services and more.
