@PGATOUR The Memorial is one of my favorite tournaments of the year. It's third favorite to the Masters and The Open, but ahead of the US Open and the PGA. Fabulous golf course. Fair challenge. No PGA/USGA circus golf.
Look, I'm a skeptic. Someone must prove the durability of building a team every year of guys you have never seen before. I know college football, but happy to be proven wrong. He is recruiting primarily 3-star players. Is his plan to fill the locker room with 3-stars then reboot the starting talent every year with 17 portal veteran contributors and a $4 million quarterback?
As for the Playoffs, one appearance was a championship, and in the other he was TCUd. What's your take?
@Genetics56 The B1G and the SEC will not make these decisions. The university Presidents will. That may not seem an important distinction, but the Presidents are increasingly aware that they are not doing enough. The current structure is broken and in chaos and no on disagrees.
@1TimMurray@DKSports Vegas sees all, but man, I like ND in all four of those. Not sure people understand that most of these teams will not reach 14. Carr will see the field as well as anyone ever has in South Bend -- then add in unmatched accuracy. 6 interceptions last year as a rookie.
.@DKSports posted 70 CFB Game of the Year lines
4 Notre Dame games listed…
-24.5 at North Carolina (10/3)
-11.5 at BYU (10/17)
-7.5 vs Miami (11/7)
-17.5 vs SMU (11/21)
Hardly. Other leagues would form, negotiating deals that reflect the full media value of their memebership. Each school at each tier would earn its full value, adjusting to the procurement structure to maximum revenue potential for the industry. Notre Dame playing Stanford and Navy every year is not maximizing revenue. The value is left on the negotiating floor.
Pete must say he is against a super-league because politically he is advised to keep his powder dry and support this bill as a first step. So he is taking the opportunity to tutor the audience on where powerful incentives usher the industry.
College football must take its media procurement to scale, otherwise continue to leave hundreds of millions of revenue on the floor each year. Bevacqua and Notre Dame will return to this point another day.
@JosephLaMagna@fried_egg_golf LaMagna may know his stuff. Rahm beat Scottie like a drum in college, and my recollection is that Scottie was not the #1 player on the Texas team, perhaps except for short periods of time.
Great point made by Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua in the Senate college sports hearing today: Constant player movement (through the portal) is a real threat to athlete safety and welfare. Consistent access to the same trainers, doctors, strength coaches, and physical development is key in effectively treating, preventing, and rehabbing injuries.
This is the worst selection committee we've ever had.
Cannot believe Alabama didn't even drop one spot after the SEC title game blowout. Cannot believe they waited until the final reveal to flip Miami-ND. Could have done it at ANY point.
Cuban is already stepping back. I believe resources, infrastructure and audience size will determine the winners. I do not see Cig as the agent of transformational change. Remember, he has played in two Playoff brackets. One he was blown out and embarrassed in the first round; the other he won with the first pick in the NFL draft at QB.
Nick speaks the plain English of an industry operating guy, but is not in touch with the powerful incentives the universities face as the industry grows into scale. The requirement is to monetize the game for the benefit of all universities and their students, athletes and non-athletes alike.
