Dario Amodei just gave his first interview since the Pentagon blacklisted his company. The toll is visible on his face.

He was asked one question. What would you say to the President right now?

He didn’t hesitate.

Amodei: “We are patriotic Americans. Everything we have done has been for the sake of this country.”

Anthropic built their models to defend America. They were the first AI lab cleared for classified military systems. They wanted to help the warfighter.

But the Pentagon demanded unrestricted access to fully autonomous weapons and mass surveillance of American citizens.

Amodei drew the line.

The government responded with emergency Cold War powers. A supply chain designation normally reserved for foreign adversaries. A six-month federal phaseout ordered from Truth Social.

Amodei: “When we were threatened with supply chain designation and Defense Production Act, which are unprecedented intrusions into the private economy, we exercised our classic First Amendment rights to speak up and disagree with the government.”

The administration framed Anthropic’s refusal as anti-American.

Amodei’s response dismantled that framing in one sentence.

Amodei: “Disagreeing with the government is the most American thing in the world.”

Here is the deeper paradox nobody in Washington wants to say out loud.

We are in a geopolitical race against autocratic adversaries who use AI for mass surveillance of their own citizens and autonomous weapons with no human oversight.

The Pentagon demanded that Anthropic build those exact capabilities for America.

Amodei: “The red lines we have drawn, we drew because we believe that crossing those red lines is contrary to American values.”

You cannot defeat authoritarianism by adopting its methods.

You cannot defend the open society by forcing private companies to build its antithesis under threat of wartime emergency powers.

Anthropic held the line. Got blacklisted for it. And came out the other side saying the same thing they said going in.

That is what it actually looks like to mean it.

Most politicians thump their chest: and keep ranting about GDP. But, they don't tell you 1 fact-

That if every person in India earns 500Rs/day for their survival. This brings 50% of our GDP!

- India's working age population = 900Million people
- 900Million * 500Rs * 365= roughly 1.9Tr$

India's total GDP= 4Tr$
So half our GDP comes from here.

Do you think people earning 500Rs per day are having a good time?

That's why GDP per person (or per capita) matters.

We were sitting in The Long Bar at Raffles Hotel, Singapore.
Adjacent to our Table we saw two Elderly Indian Male in their 70s were Sitting and Discussing about India’s MEA. As they saw us both of them Smiled, they asked us about our Whereabouts and held normal Conversation. Later on I found that both of them were Retired Indian Administrative Service Officers (IAS) and on their Way back one of them Drove an Aston Martin and another drove a Bentley both with Singapore Number.

P.S - Aston Martin and Bentley would Cost Thrice its Original Price here in Singapore. The Way Liberty and Democracy had been Exploited in India by the Bureaucracy, perhaps nowhere in the World these things might have been exploited with Such Impunity.

Once upon a time #Uttarakhand was known for its jal, jungle and jameen; not anymore. Hardly a day or two passes before some video or the other from #Dehradun or some other district does not go viral in the state.

In this recent video, we are being informed that this is the area of Maldevta in the outskirts of Dehradun. It's a short clip of less than a minute and I would like to both request and encourage you to see it fully. The one who has made the video is giving details about the location, the sorry state of the river, the upcoming resort and ongoing plotting, the lack of supervision and the presence of bhu mafia. The narrator ends with the painful and usual refrain of how the state is going to the dogs.

I don't usually like to tag people and particularly the CM of our state @pushkardhami but I do make some exceptions sometimes. In this particular case, I not only request but also ask Mr. Chief Minister to look into this. It's equally important to question why so many violations are happening in our state and that too so rapidly. Just last week we saw the audacious attempt to literally hijack the reserved forest of #Khalanga in Dehradun by a Rishikesh based builder. If you need regulatory support from @bypadavbjp or @moefcc; I am sure they will lend a helping hand. As a nation how can we aspire to become a super power if any tom, dick and harry can have the courage to simply walk in and trample across our sacred land, forests and rivers.

I want to close by saying that these "dacoits of environment" who are defiling the pure and pious soul of Uttarakhand need to be taught a harsh lesson. If I were you, I would show these people the might of the state and ensure that not an inch of our state owned land would be raped and plundered. I feel terribly sad to be writing this knowing well that in all probability you will never even get this message, and even if you do - and this is likely worse - nothing will happen!
