The first victim of 9/11 was Danny Lewin. Born in Denver, raised in Jerusalem. Captain in Sayeret Matkal. Mathematician. Co-founder of Akamai - the company that still carries a huge share of the internet.
On the morning of September 11, 2001 he boarded American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to Los Angeles and sat in seat 9B.
Directly in front of him: Mohamed Atta and Abdulaziz al-Omari.
Directly behind him: Satam al-Suqami.
When the hijackers rose and moved toward the cockpit, Lewin - 31 years old, elite IDF officer - stood up to stop them.
Al-Suqami slit his throat from behind.
Flight attendants Betty Ong and Amy Sweeney radioed that a passenger in 9B had been stabbed and appeared dead. The 9/11 Commission later concluded he was almost certainly the first person murdered that day.
Twenty-five minutes later Flight 11 hit the North Tower.
He left a wife and two young sons.
Israel is the only country outside the United States with a 9/11 memorial that lists every victim by name, built from Ground Zero steel. Danny Lewin’s name is on it.
May his memory be a blessing.

@unikunka I can't recall if it was the next day or a couple more but after work we drove around the local towns near us and street corners were filled with people shouting USA! USA! We were terrified and bullshit and united beyond what I've ever seen.
@FriendIsrael65 Pulling into my parking space at the office. The DJs on my local Boston station said a small plane hit the tower and they mocked the pilot. It wasn't long until the truth emerged. I can still see that amazing blue sky.
They should show this in every high school classroom in America tomorrow morning. Then they should show it again. This is what radical Islam did to us 25 years ago.
We said we would never forget.
Shame on us.
We forgot.
Massachusetts, he will have a field day here… Rampant corruption and they don’t even try to hide it.. We desperately need the level of exposure that he brings to rid of us the corrupt democrats.. @nickshirleyy
State Department is doing work.
So often our government doesn't appear to be doing anything. Trillions of dollars and lots of sitting on their hands as far as the voters and tax payers can see.
But not this admin.
Like them or hate them... they're working and working hard.
What I voted for.
God speed and God bless.
@KiwiSbg9@Mazelit_ I had just turned 40. You're absolutely right. I can still hear the morning DJs as I pulled into my parking space, joking that an amateur pilot in a tiny plane hit a building. It wasn't funny even if it had been that but soon we knew so much more.
@Mazelit_ Another thing I won't ever forget was two fold: Fighter jets rocketing above our house, just north of Otis AFB. Scary. But then nothing. You don't notice passenger planes until there are none. It was terrifying in so many ways.
