This week I was in Toronto for the Annual meeting of #SPIR - an incredible 3-day feast of #PaediatricIR knowledge with superb talks on varied topics. True to the theme of the meeting there were some great insights into the exciting future of IR practice and its relevance to #paedsIR. Thanks to the fantastic speakers and participants at the meeting 🙏🏽
It was also back to the roots in a special way for me as I was in Toronto where my journey as an IR truly began. Walking down the streets around the UHN precinct, especially around the Alan Brown building (it still looks the same btw!) I was filled with nostalgia- reminiscing about my life here as a fellow nearly 20 years ago. That stint remains one of the best phases of my life with sweet memories of some great moments to cherish forever!
Looking back at my roots, and turning now to the future - excited to start preparing for the next years meeting

A metal (or plastic) stent will still cause some stasis and debris and therefore may cause continuous the inflammation ?!?
A biodegradable one shortens this?!? 🤷🏼♂️
#CIRSE2024 has a huge #paedsIR content in the program!
Excited to be part of it again🤩

🔥 Fresh off the press! 🗞
For small children, gaining arterial access can be tricky. In this 2.5kg neonate with liver hemangioma, we used the umbilical vein as access and navigated across the PDA for embolisation.

@shekeeb@PEMDocSyd@kathryc4@DrJonathanK And the ideas we chase often remain in those corridors especially for those of us that are predominantly in the clinical roles where research is never even a byproduct let alone a priority
So the said mountains remain unsurmountable..and their dark valleys simply not navigable!
