Among adults with newly identified #HFrEF, most did not undergo LVEF reassessment and GDMT use at 12 months was modest, even for those with persistent reduced ejection fraction or improved LVEF.

🫀 Most patients with newly identified heart failure are not receiving the recommended follow-up heart function assessment, despite clinical guidelines calling for reassessment and treatment optimization.
A new study from Truveta Research and collaborators at Yale School of Medicine (@YaleMed), Yale New Haven Hospital, and Duke University School of Medicine (@DukeMedSchool) published in @JAMANetworkOpen analyzed data from more than 340,000 adults with newly documented heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
One key finding: only 33.8% of patients received repeat echocardiography within one year of diagnosis, even though follow-up assessment is critical for guiding long-term care and treatment decisions.

Educational pathways needed for both established physicians and trainees. Reimbursement changes must encourage IVI use. Guidelines should be updated, recognizing the data supporting intra-coronary imaging.
⬇️ intra-coronary imaging use among operators at smaller hospitals and those who graduated earlier. Surprisingly, no relation with PCI volume or practice focus - PV, structural etc.
