I almost never discover genuinely great artists through Instagram’s algorithm, maybe two exceptions, ever.
Most of the artists Instagram pushes seem to be average at best, usually making trendy, highly relatable content rather than memorable artwork. On Twitter, I discover incredible artists almost every single day.
For art itself, Instagram feels inferior. The image quality gets compressed to hell, posts get cropped and static image posts barely get any reach.
A lot of Instagram art feels like content first and art second. They grab your attention for a few seconds and you forget about it. The art feels disposable.
On Twitter, I regularly come across pieces that stick with me long after I've seen them. Hell, every one of my favorite artists was someone I discovered through Twitter, and much of my artistic style was shaped by them.
It is difficult for us to articulate just how much this album means to us, and how good it feels to release it into the world. Through every twist, turn, and side-step that life throws at us, its true beauty and mystery becomes all the more breathtaking.
