Hassan Sheikh's call to "review" relations with Somaliland looks more like a stalling tactic than a path to progress. Somaliland's energy is better spent advancing international recognition than repeating talks that have led nowhere. #Somaliland#Somalia
Somaliland must draw a firm line: no agency, program, or institution claiming to serve Somaliland should do so through Muqdisho. Direct engagement is the only framework consistent with Somaliland's self-governance and political reality.
El Al, the national carrier of Israel, plans to introduce direct air services linking Hargeisa and Tel Aviv. When the initiative takes effect, it is anticipated that Somalia’s e-visa requirement will be abolished.#Somaliland

These days kids must find their feet in a world where technology intrudes into every area of their life.
I just can’t let that go on anymore. So we’re giving children their childhoods back.
Now that the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reports that Somaliland President Abdirahman Irro is expected to visit Israel next week, Somalilanders can sit back and enjoy the familiar spectacle of the Saudi-Turkish-Qatari-Egyptian axis scrambling to draft yet another round of condemnations, denunciations, objections, concerns, and expressions of "deep disappointment."
One can almost picture the emergency meetings already underway; diplomats frantically searching for the strongest possible wording, foreign ministries dusting off old templates, and television presenters preparing dramatic monologues about the "grave threat" posed by Somaliland simply talking to a country that half the world already engages with.
The irony, of course, is that these same governments maintain direct or indirect relations with Israel whenever it suits their strategic interests. Yet when Somaliland pursues its own diplomatic and economic interests, suddenly the sky is falling and regional stability is allegedly at risk.
For Somalilanders, the condemnations have become less of a deterrent and more of a ceremonial tradition. Every new diplomatic breakthrough is inevitably followed by a chorus of outrage from capitals that seem far more concerned about Somaliland's growing international profile than about the countless crises unfolding in their own countries and neighborhoods.
At this point, the real question is not whether another condemnation is coming, but which entity will issue it first.Amusing
Our new Embassy in Jerusalem marks a new chapter for Somaliland. We are moving forward — and this is only the beginning of many more milestones to come.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has reportedly launched a diplomatic initiative encouraging four additional countries to recognize Somaliland.
The alleged campaign, attributed to Emirati officials, is said to involve engagement with Eswatini, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, and Zambia. The reports suggest that Abu Dhabi is actively lobbying these governments to extend formal recognition to Somaliland.

@IsmailiAhmedR The UAE’s role as a conflict actor gets headlines, but its $100B+ economic presence in Africa—ports, infrastructure, and 20K+ African companies based in the UAE—is the real story. That’s the kind of influence that reshapes regions quietly. It's worth paying more attention to.

Today marks exactly one month since Israel recognised Somaliland.
We at @SahanResearch assess the overall situation, highlight the growing friction between Israel and Turkey and appeal on both states to dial down tensions, deconflict their Horn stakes.

H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) of Somaliland addressed the Davos 2026 Summit today, articulating Somaliland’s vision for peace, strategic partnership, and sustainable economic growth on the global stage. A moment of proud representation. #Somaliland#Davos26
Turkey and Qatar operate ideologically through Muslim Brotherhood networks and are fundamentally unsuited to lead or mediate peace processes. In the Horn of Africa, they are acting in tandem with Saudi Arabia and Egypt to mobilize, arm and finance proxies against Somaliland, the region’s only stable and democratic territory.
Their objective is not reunification but regime transformation by replacing Somaliland’s democratic order with one aligned to MB doctrine. Egypt’s parallel interest is strategic which is denying Israel any presence at the southern entrance of the Red Sea near Babel Mandeb while Saudi Arabia’s behavior is driven largely by rivalry and jealousy over the UAE’s growing regional influence.
In this context, Turkish-Qatari participation in Gaza diplomacy appears less about peace and more about rehabilitating Hamas in a different form.
