Bankers keep India connected 24×7.
But behind every transaction, target and deadline is a human being, with a family, responsibilities and a life beyond the branch.
A 5-day week was agreed in March 2024, with bankers accepting longer working hours from Monday to Friday.
The demand is reasonable. The commitment is proven. The delay is difficult to justify.
Implement 5-Day Banking now.

India’s Bank employees seek two things rooted in fairness and dignity at work.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI
The demand for a 5 Day Work Week in banks is not new. It already stands agreed upon in the Bipartite Settlement of March 2024. What remains is its long-pending implementation.
At the same time, the unilateral and discriminatory PLI system must be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent and inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.
Hardworking bank employees are not asking for privilege. They are asking for implementation of an agreement and equality in reward.
A motivated banking workforce strengthens Indian banking and the nation.

A 5-day banking week will enhance work-life balance for Indian bank employees, leading to increased productivity and job satisfaction! #BankersDemand5DayWeek#AIBOC https://t.co/1hHqjiHvqc
Bank employees are the backbone of India’s financial system, powering inclusion, safeguarding stability, and enabling growth.
Yet, they’re still denied a humane work–life balance.
A 5-day work week in the banking industry isn’t a “perk”, it’s a long-overdue necessity. The commitment has been made. Now it must be honoured.
Act now. Implement a 5-day week for bankers too, without delay.

A 5-day banking week will enhance employee well-being, improve customer service, and foster a balanced work-life environment! #Approve5DayBankingNow https://t.co/36oIlSflTQ
Policy makers talk about productivity while forcing burnout on bank employees. Hypocrisy won’t run a modern economy. Act with responsibility. Approve the 5-day banking week.

Stress reduction is key to workplace well-being. A 5-day banking week can lead to healthier and happier banking professionals! #Implement5DayBanking https://t.co/dKNOznHkNW
A rested workforce serves the public better. With staff shortages and rising stress, 5-day banking is a service-quality issue, not a “perk.” UFBU has pursued this since 2015; IBA has recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and it’s included in the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024), pending clearances.
Let’s finish what’s already agreed.

When employees feel refreshed, they deliver better service. A 5-day banking week could transform the customer experience! #5DaysWorkWeek https://t.co/WEqQWJpNYZ
When the world is moving to a 4-day week, and banking is already 24x7 in the digital era, bankers asking for a 5-day week isn’t a luxury. It’s justice.
IBA has agreed. The understanding is signed.
Now the Government must honour its commitment – no more excuses, no more delays.
Respect the Settlement. Deliver it.
