The hosting of The Open in Portrush generated over £280 million for our local economy, with hundreds of thousands in attendance.
It was a privilege to play a part in securing one of the world’s most prestigious sporting tournaments, showcasing the very best of our people and our island, while delivering an enormous boost to our local businesses and communities.
I will continue working to invest in all sports and bring even more opportunities to our island.
Some staggering doublethink/hypocrisy from well known radical right accounts on here
1) Turns out words do hurt and matter after all- many spent years telling us they didn’t and free speech should be absolute/ spent months defending Lucy Connolly for literally inciting violence.
2) That political violence/rhetoric is the sole preserve of the left despite all the evidence and real world events to the contrary.
3) That the accusation of fascism/far right behaviours is worse than the behaviours themselves. For example like lying about a “stolen election” and literally using violence to stop it.
4) That MAGA isn’t a divisive movement and never has been. Maga doesn’t like being called far right- fine. Will we have a moratorium on the use of “far left”? Will we stop hearing about how anyone who disagrees with them is about to presage the destruction of Western civilisation?
5) That cancellation is ok after all- something now being demanded of the Oxford Union president.
If I'm not Scottish how come I can rhyme in Scots?
Laurence Fox, a bawheid radge,
Racist blether, deidbeat dad.
Failed at actin, daein it bad,
Now he’s jist a daft wee lad
Oh, I should have added: initially, I told Mr Barton that if he paid £10,000 total and deleted the tweets I'd forget the whole thing. It was him, not me, who decided to take the long road.
@neilwallis1 Neil, with maximum respect, I'm a Jew talking about an antisemitic incident in a place where I am and you are not. So perhaps wind it in, eh?
Pep Guardiola gave an emotional speech about the suffering in Gaza after receiving an honorary degree from Manchester University.
He was being recognised for his contribution to the city and chose to use his platform to highlight the continued bombing of the region by Israel.

Pep Guardiola has implicitly pointed out at the flotilla and Greta, shattering the complicit world into pieces.
And he is right in every word he said. “The next children killed will be ours.”
