BNM dalam Laporan Tahunan 2025 yang diterbitkan harini melaporkan sejak 2019 hingga 2024 kadar inflasi meningkat 9.3% dalam masa yang sama kenaikan gaji bagi setiap pekerja hanya 7.2% atau dalam kata yang lain secara purata orang Malaysia perlu bekerja lebih lama untuk membeli barangan yang sama.

Pada tahun 2019, 80% isi rumah terbawah (B80) perlu bekerja 44 jam untuk belanja makanan, pada 2024, B80 perlu bekerja 48 jam untuk belanja makanan yang sama.

Untuk T20, 2019 perlu bekerja 28 jam untuk belanja makanan bulanan, 2024 perlu 30 jam untuk belanja yang sama.

Kesimpulan, kadar kenaikan gaji lebih rendah daripada kadar inflasi atau kenaikan harga barang terutamanya makanan.
