@peterktodd True. The problem with tokens in general is that they remove friction for seed funding and add friction in the service…which makes it uncompetitive, or even nonsensical. @a16z is knowingly capitalizing on that reality.
@peterktodd That’s not scaling, at least not relative to how much money they are putting in pumping the token and subsidizing the users. The VCs involved in this know better too, it’s a scam.
@peterktodd Teksavvy was the solution to our ToS problem in Vancouver, but asking people to switch providers AND put a device out their window doesn’t scale…and Helium wants to charge for this?! Web3 is such a fail.
@peterktodd Helium should know this (or anyone who would do due diligence on this concept). I bet all big national carriers globally will have this clause. Cafes are probably ok since it’s their customers using it…the use case they are afraid of are 2 or more neighbours splitting one bill.
@peterktodd One of the biggest challenges was that sharing wifi was against the Shaw and Telus terms of service. This is probably the case globally, and would get enforced if any wifi scheme actually took off.
