Intersectional feminist, often stubborn. Currently studying MSc Sexual and Reproductive Health- and occasionally delivering babies. All opinions are my own.
To the countless people who continue to send messages of support, and condolence, THANK YOU. We are truly overwhelmed. Thank you for understanding why we decided to share.
🙌🏻❤️
To the pro life people who have resorted to the inevitable horrible behavior: Yes, I shared a “sad” black & white photo alongside my post. Why? To hopefully get you to stop scrolling, & pay attention. We decided to share our story because PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THIS IS HAPPENING. In hopes it might inspire change. What photo should I have shared? Our dead baby in the toilet? Or my wife, unconscious in the hospital? Would you have preferred that? Actually, don’t answer. Because I DON’T CARE🖕🏻
starting to research for my dissertation which is focusing on midwives perception of birth trauma and the impact on subsequent care- i feel so lucky to have a supportive supervisor on something i care so much about 🤍🤍
Had my first meeting with my dissertation supervisor, super positive! Such a great professor to be working with who is just as passionate as me on the topic. So excited to get started now ✨
For me, this is one of most interesting exhibits in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary Museum. It's a fire surround from the Rottenrow Maternity Hospital into which the doctors and midwives who delivered countless Glaswegians have etched their names.

@beckietalbot@BICSoc@jacotton01 Wow I have never even thought about homebirth being an option for stillborn babies. It makes sense, absolutely should be an option in appropriate cases!
Anyone else feel as if there is starting to become a bit of a witch-hunt against midwives? I have never witnessed such derogatory opinions being directed at us in all my 8 years working in maternity. I no longer work full time as a midwife and I’m certainly glad that’s the case.
I got my job in NHS Lothian 4 years ago today. How my life has changed… and IS changing. I am so glad I made the move I did- not a single part of my life would be what it is today with out it.
@catherineroyuk Absolutely. We have an entire class on birth interventions (CS, instrumental, IOL among others) and discuss them using BRAIN acronym. We also give women info on how to access RCOG/NICE/AIMs if they so wish
@ashley_morrice just keep thinking; they want you as much you want them. the more you think of it as mutual, the easier the process is and the more confident you’ll appear ☺️
The Welsh Ambulance Service has appointed its first midwife 👶🍼

45% of male university students said they’d feel confident labelling the nubis on a diagram of the female reproductive system.
The problem? I made the nubis up.
Now I have your attention...I’ve got brand new data out about young people and how they've been failed /1
Had my first ever repeat customer today, coming for her 2nd baby 😍 she was so excited to see me again, which is just the main joy of community midwifery. Continuity, and building up relationships with people who need it most. Feel very proud and satisfied with what I do today 💕
I will never forget my first encounter with someone having a genuine, psychotic emergency postnatally. I’ve never felt less prepared- you learn at university how to stop haemorrhages, deal with shoulder dystocia- but not the leading case of perinatal mortality? Change needed ASAP
@MsBethanJ I’m a community midwife, our team is meant to consist of 10 of us- we have just had several of our staff leave, so for the month of January we have to cover a combined caseload of around 400 women with THREE midwives. We are working with less than a third of our required staffing
We will not continue to reshare the hateful comments of an “actor” who equates abortion with sexual assault.
If you have had an abortion, please know that we are a pro choice country. Your decision to end a pregnancy is neither controversial nor up for debate.
