We went down to Parliament Hill just after 1pm to join the small group of counterprotestors after the very well-attended counterprotest had officially ended. What scared me the most were small children with hate in their eyes holding signs with anti-2SLGBTQIA+ disinformation.

It is okay to be scared right now. It feels like we’re on the precipice of regression on queer rights and so much more. And, if you’re like me, you probably feel powerless to stop it.

Belatedly sharing the special time we had working, learning, and playing on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples—including Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh & Lil’Wat Nations—at the Institute of Engaged Leadership this past week alongside other scholars, fellows & mentors of the 2022 @fdnPETF cohort!

Among the experiences was a visit to the Whistler Mountain Inukshuk to discuss its roots in Inuit culture and its use to symbolize openness and strength, two qualities that many communities across the country are demonstrating as the effects of the climate crisis become increasingly apparent.
