I wonder if the title of 'Clockmaker' for the new Trailblazer Apprentice Scheme is far to narrow going forward. I work on a range of dynamic objects most may well have links towards clockmaking but are not clockmaking, can anyone think of a better title for future craftspersons?
@Louisa_Burden Adjustable Spanners are the tools of the devil, I always hurt myself when using them. Every home should have a complete set of AF Metric and Whitworth spanners, and a 18" stilson wrench polished and on display in the best room, it should be the law!
@allnuttclocks @Allcollcare Not sure how well horologists are respected today, I think we are seen as a sort of anacronistic timewarp industry, Sadly there is still great negativity directed towards people who make and repair things, unless its "crafting" which is posh tat.
@RikeFranke@ThreshedThought Congratulations, Very well done, I think my mother tried to read mine, she used to leave around the house as if she was just in the middle of it, for about 4 years,
@WorldbyRead@rooneyvision I could not put my finger on it, but you are right on the money Matthew, that is a superb cover. Very similar to my 1970's mechanical engineering textbooks.
@martinbeecher I too failed the 11+ it was a horrible feeling and I can still remember the huge disappointment of my parents, we failure got a letter on the day after those who passed, it was well over half a century ago and it still hurts.
