The Stolguard Incident (this was a surprisingly fun read...finished it recently)
@the_jefferymead@RepRoKhanna i wonder do they sit around and plan this kind of bs out in some room somewhere lol? or like is there a democrat playbook with a section on how to confuse anything with racism? to be fair he did a decent job with what he had to work with. prob mislead a few people.
@TerryBemis@RepNancyMace i agree with that...its just astounding to me that congress has f'd this up so badly, given the level of support. people just want elections that are more transparently secure with minimal added friction. how hard can that be to figure out or at least pretend to work together on.
@TerryBemis@RepNancyMace would be a huge boost for the democrats’ credibility too i bet, if they can find a way to support it without looking like “trump made them do it”. plus if 84% of voters are really for it…seems like a no brainer if they really cherish “democracy” as much as they claim.
@TerryBemis@RepNancyMace that’s a fair point, but u have to admit the current process of election authentication leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to convincing the average voter that fraud is unlikely. requiring id will set a lot of minds at ease, and make it harder for trump to cry about fraud.
@TerryBemis@RepNancyMace i think a lot of people genuinely believe there is fraud. is it rational? maybe not. but people trusting that elections are fair matters as much as whether or not they actually are. so if voter id will restore some trust, seems worth considering to me.
@frankie_fatal@patriotvoting@fire_starter457 i agree neither one was outright saying “i’m going to kill you”…but do u not agree that circumstances arose in which the agents may have really felt threatened and had to react quickly? i don’t see how people can’t see that. like do u really think they *wanted* to shoot them?
@NoSacredBeliefs@GadSaad@Arlene1971 that sucks but seems reasonable to me. not sure how else they would expect to ever collect on those unrealized gains if he moves to another country.
@NoSacredBeliefs@GadSaad@Arlene1971 if you do that then there’s no need for the “exit tax” (deemed disposition tax) because you will have effectively done what it demands…pay tax on any unrealized gains. no?
@esrtweet consciousness / subjective experience is the one thing anyone can know for sure is real. and it’s the one real thing we haven’t managed to approach scientifically in any meaningful way. how about..”the really really hard problem”?
@nursedanakay 1. that is a feature, not a bug.
2. harsh truth but, if the lazy/slow squirrels out there are spared at scale…it’s just a matter of time before they take over the streets.
@patp28@sourbedhead@nickshirleyy what doj convictions make u think the russia collusion thing was so real? they had more than just nick shirley working on that investigation...and all we got was the mueller report, which was a joke compared to what the news had been suggesting for years.
