@bajajgeneral 2 days have gone and no response at all from anyone from Bajaj.
This is a gentle reminder to you as Bajaj has already arrived at a decision and communicated that the claim is not admissible, what is taking Bajaj so long to share the documents?
1. Detailed investigation/survey report
2. Exact root cause of the engine failure determined by the Surveyor/Claims Team
3. Technical evidence/findings relied upon
4. Exact policy/Engine Protector clause relied upon for declining the claim
5. Point-by-point response to the other questions raised in my previous emails
6. Justification on why was advisor not available for live video / image recording when the engine was getting dismantled on 27 Aug 2026? And also why the inspection took over 21 days considering that the incident was reported to Bajaj on 21 Aug 2026, Engine dismantled on 27 Aug but the actual inspection by the surveyor was carried out after 1/2 Sept 2026.
Kindly share the above at the earliest so that I may decide my further course of action.
My 2021 Hyundai Creta suffered catastrophic engine failure barely ~50 metres after leaving an authorised Hyundai workshop.
On 20/21 August 2026, I noticed an abnormal sound from my Hyundai Creta 1.5 CRDi and immediately took the vehicle to Berkeley Hyundai, Zirakpur, an authorised Hyundai workshop, at around 4 PM.
I repeatedly requested that the vehicle be inspected. I was told to revisit the following morning as it is close to the office hours.
Before leaving, I specifically asked the service advisor whether there was any risk in taking the vehicle home and returning the next morning. I was expressly told there was “NO RISK.” As i was concerned for my vehicle's abnormal sound coming from engine.
Relying on the professional advice of an authorised Hyundai workshop advisor, I drove out.
Barely ~50 metres / around 2 minutes later — a loud bang, immediate loss of power, engine shutdown and catastrophic engine damage.
The connecting rod failed, the engine block was damaged and oil discharged following the failure.
What makes this even more concerning:
➡️ I later discovered the job card contained the remark “customer refused to repair” — something I categorically dispute. I had gone there specifically requesting inspection. No signed refusal, risk warning or acknowledgement has been shown to me.
➡️ I have repeatedly asked Berkeley Hyundai to preserve the CCTV footage and complete electronic job-card audit trail and explain who entered this remark and when and why i was refused to inspect my car when they had 2hours still left for the day.
➡️ The engine was subsequently dismantled for technical investigation.
➡️ On 10 September, I was verbally informed that Bajaj's surveyor had concluded that there was no hydrolock/water-ingress damage and no oil-starvation/lubricant-leakage damage attributable to an accident, and that my insurance claim was therefore being declined.
But this leaves the most important question unanswered:
IF HYDROLOCK AND OIL STARVATION ARE RULED OUT, WHAT ACTUALLY CAUSED THE CONNECTING ROD / ENGINE TO CATASTROPHICALLY FAIL?
And there is another question Hyundai/Berkeley must answer:
If my engine was in a condition where catastrophic failure occurred barely ~50 metres after leaving the workshop, on what technical/professional basis was I told there was “no risk” in driving the vehicle home?
I have maintained this vehicle through the authorised Hyundai service network. I approached the authorised workshop BEFORE the catastrophic failure, precisely because I wanted the abnormal sound diagnosed before it became something serious.
As a responsible Hyundai owner, I bought the car, maintained it with timely authorised services, and even purchased insurance through Hyundai India Insurance Broking Pvt. Ltd. with Engine Protection—so why should I be left to bear the cost of a catastrophic engine failure? Is this really the reliability, protection and accountability a Hyundai customer is promised, or is the customer ultimately left stranded between Hyundai, its authorised workshop and the insurer when things go wrong?
I am asking @HyundaiIndia , Berkeley Hyundai and @bajajgeneral for transparency, technical evidence and a fair resolution.
I have formally requested since 21 Aug 2026 (🙁 sadly no response):
• Hyundai/Berkeley's detailed root-cause investigation report
• Complete job-card history/audit trail
• CCTV preservation/status
• Explanation of the disputed “customer refused to repair” remark
• Bajaj's formal repudiation and complete survey findings
• The exact technical cause of failure
• The exact Engine Protector policy provision relied upon
• Why misleading customer with invalid estimates were shared with me (Initially sharing an estimate of Rs 5.66 Lakhs and another one for Rs 2.1 Lakhs) 😤.
FYI: My Bajaj grievance is now formally registered as SR 26271963.
After weeks without a conclusive technical explanation, my question remains remarkably simple:
I brought a running vehicle to an authorised Hyundai workshop because I heard an abnormal sound. I asked for it to be checked. I specifically asked whether it was safe to drive. I was told there was no risk. The engine catastrophically failed ~50 metres later.
Who takes responsibility - and what actually caused the engine to fail?
I request senior management at @HyundaiIndia@HMGnewsroom and @bajajgeneral to intervene, investigate the complete record, provide a fair, evidence-based resolution.

Sorry to see another #Hyundai customer facing such an experience. I am going through a serious unresolved case too.
My 2021 Creta suffered catastrophic engine failure barely minutes after leaving an authorised Hyundai workshop, where I had voluntarily taken it with an abnormal engine sound and repeatedly requested inspection.
My central question to @HyundaiIndia remains unanswered: Why was my vehicle not taken into the service area and inspected? If Berkeley Hyundai claims I was advised to retain the car but refused, please produce the physical job card bearing my signature, signed refusal/risk warning or do-not-drive instruction.
@bajajgeneral has also repudiated my Engine Protector claim while I continue seeking the complete technical basis and evidence.
Matter now escalated through @irdaiindia and Insurance Ombudsman.
Customers deserve evidence, accountability and resolution — not just assurances.

Thank you again Sir. 🙏
At this stage I am asking both sides for evidence, not assurances.
@HyundaiIndia - how the contemporaneous signed record proving I refused to retain the vehicle after repeatedly approaching your authorised workshop for inspection.
@bajajgeneral - provide the complete survey findings with detailed investigation report done by Surveyor along with proof of photos / videos when engines was dismantled, established root cause, technical evidence and exact Engine Protector clause supporting repudiation.
The documents and technical evidence should establish what actually happened and who must take responsibility.
Thank you Sir. 🙏
@bajajgeneral has repudiated my Engine Protector claim, yet despite repeated written requests I am still awaiting the complete survey/investigation report, established root cause, technical evidence and exact Engine Protector clause relied upon for rejection.
My grievance is now formally registered with @irdaiindia through Bima Bharosa under Token 09-26-014598, apart from my Insurance Ombudsman complaint.
If the claim has already been rejected, the complete technical and contractual basis for that decision should already exist. Please disclose it and let the evidence speak.
Thank you very much Sir for your support. 🙏
@HyundaiIndia this is precisely the question I need answered: I voluntarily brought a RUNNING car with an abnormal engine sound to your authorised Berkeley Hyundai workshop and repeatedly requested inspection. Why was it not even taken into the service area for checking and why was I permitted to leave?
Berkeley now says I was advised to retain the car but refused. Then please produce the physical job card bearing my signature, signed refusal, do-not-drive/risk warning or exit gate pass recording this. None was ever given to or signed by me.
Barely minutes later the engine catastrophically failed. I am requesting Hyundai to investigate the evidence and take responsibility where it is established.
@bajajgeneral Which “necessary updates” have you emailed me?
I have checked my inbox. The only emails received from Bajaj today are the 5:29 PM & 6:15 PM acknowledgements generated AFTER I escalated the matter through IRDAI Bima Bharosa (Token 09-26-014598). #irdaindia #irdaBimaBharosa
Neither provides the survey/investigation report, established root cause of engine failure, technical evidence relied upon, or the exact Engine Protector/policy clause supporting repudiation — all of which I have repeatedly requested.
Please don't post a generic public response suggesting that the necessary updates have been provided when they haven't.
If Bajaj has actually sent these “necessary updates”, please state the email time/subject here publicly or resend them now.
I am still waiting for the technical basis of my claim repudiation - not another acknowledgement.
Thank you @jaibanssingh Sir for your concern. 🙏 Your observations about the workshop are particularly concerning.
A detailed & independent investigation is exactly what I have been requesting from #HyundaiIndia since day one.
I voluntarily drove my Creta to #BerkeleyHyundaiZirakpur around 4 PM with an abnormal engine sound and repeatedly requested inspection. Instead of diagnosing the vehicle then, I was told there wasn't sufficient time and to return the following morning. Most importantly, when I specifically asked whether there was any risk in driving the car, I was told NO RISK.
What concerns me even more is the subsequent remark “customer refused to repair.” How does a customer who voluntarily brings his vehicle to an authorised workshop specifically for investigation suddenly become a customer who “refused to repair”?
There is no signed refusal, no written risk/do-not-drive warning, no acknowledgement bearing my signature and I wasn't even handed a physical job card. I wasn't issued an exit gate pass either, yet the vehicle was permitted to leave.
Barely ~50 metres later, the engine suffered catastrophic failure.
These are not minor questions. #HyundaiIndia & #BerkeleyHyundaiZirakpur now need to establish transparently, through the records, CCTV, audit trail and technical evidence, what happened and whether this catastrophic damage could have been prevented or substantially reduced had the vehicle been inspected or appropriately immobilised/warned against driving that evening.
That is the accountability I have been asking for from the beginning.
Thank you for the support. 🙏 Responsibility should ultimately be determined by the facts and technical evidence and not merely based assumptions and/or verbal communications. I have placed the complete matter before #Hyundai, #Bajaj and the appropriate #grievance authorities and hope accountability and a fair resolution follow.
Thank you for sharing my post.
I need support from you all. Kindly support by retweaying my original post so that it gets into the ears of #Hyundai and Bajaj General Insurance.
This incident also proves that NO ONE should ever trust the verbal communications by Hyundai dealerships, keep proper written records of everything as Hyundai may alter the verbal commitments later.
Also a lesson for everyone who takes Engine Protection as Addon in Insurance to stop paying for it unless you live in coastal or flood prone areas. Especially @bajajgeneral as they hide this deliberately to avoid claims when asked for.
Please support @HyundaiIndia and prove that you really care for your customers and you are not just an ordinary car brand!!
Thank you for standing with me Sir in my bad. 🙏
I have formally challenged the contradictions in the workshop records and requested @HyundaiIndia to verify the evidence independently. I would prefer the documents, CCTV, audit trail and technical findings to speak for themselves.
I am still awaiting a fair resolution.
@arvindmat Thank you for your support Sir. 🙏 I have now formally escalated the matter through the appropriate grievance channels and am preserving the complete documentary record. @irdaindia
I still hope a fair resolution makes further proceedings unnecessary.
@baljitsinghgho3 Thank you for the support. 🙏 It has been extremely disappointing, but I still hope @HyundaiIndia and @bajajgeneral understands the delays / negligences and non timely support on their part and will resolve the matter fairly and transparently.
Thank you for amplifying this. 🙏 I hope both @HyundaiIndia and @bajajgeneral understand why cases like this matter to existing as well as prospective customers. I am simply seeking a transparent technical explanation and a fair resolution based on the evidence and applicable coverage.
Thank you for your support @KK_326 Sir. 🙏 There are serious contradictions in the records and responses which I have formally raised with Hyundai. I have requested the original records, audit trail, CCTV preservation and a proper technical root-cause report. I hope #Hyundai now addresses these issues transparently.
