Incidentally, it’s groups like @equalitylabs that write letters to deny long-time resident H-1B workers a chance to become permanent residents. Many of these families are breaking apart, with their marriages, finances, and social fabric in peril. A school-going daughter of an H-1B worker ran away from home when she heard her family was going to be deported. She is an American-born citizen and has never known another country or society. The only reason groups associated with @EqualityLabs oppose immigration policies that would allow these long-time residents permanent status is their anti-Hindu/anti-India politics. They claim that a majority of the H-1B engineers from India are casteist. They have no evidence to back that up. And they are willing to make deserving families suffer on account of that politics. Their letter likely didn’t cause the immigration policy delay but I am pointing out the hypocrisy and bigotry against Hindus and Indian-Americans in this cabal led by Equality Labs.
In some cases, the trauma is long-term. It is in this context that I have decided to speak up against #Hinduphobic bills and campaigns by @equalitylabs, whom I consider a hate group, and their enablers like @aishabbwahab. Ironically, in this case, the bullying and identity-erasing is by activists claiming to represent other minority groups that have gone through bullying themselves.

Let me ask as politely and with as much love as I can, @dalitdiva and @aishabbwahab. And I will ask these questions every week until you clarify:
1. Why are you/your supporters against Hindus? Why is there so much hate in your comments - recorded and written - against Hindu faith. It creates an unsafe space for my kids and my family.
2. Why were you/your supporters militating against the anti-Hinduphobia proclamation in Fremont yesterday? If you are against discrimination, I would expect you to militate in favor of the proclamation.
3. if I invite you to join the broader Indian-American community to have a series of open-minded and open-heart discussions to bring us TOGETHER, would you be willing to make time? I am willing to host you. Even have chai/filter coffee and samosa in the spirit of Indian-American togetherness.

After @aishabbwahab, now @cmkshama is sharing the stage with Indian politicians & Indian caste activists.
The crass alignment of #SB403 with Indian politics and caste polemics should concern all CA lawmakers. #SB403 fulfills Indian political goals--does it help Californians?
#SB403’s Section 1(g) states that “caste disc” is already covered under existing law including religion, ancestry, ethnicity, etc.
So proposing a stand-alone class is redundant & the language seems intentionally discriminatory! It’s why we #saynotoSB403!
Laws must give people reasonable understanding of what is prohibited, have explicit standards & provide adequate safeguards to avoid arbitrary and discriminatory enforcement. #SB403 fails on all counts providing no legally workable definition of “caste” or “caste-oppressed.”
-#SB403 targets private, marital and social interactions amongst South Asians.
-#SB403 sets a dangerous precedent where associating with others of similar backgrounds privately or publicly could trigger enforcement of the state’s non-discrimination laws for only South Asians!
#SB403 makes ugly & unsubstantiated claims about South Asians engaging in harassment, bias & caste discrimination and gender, physical and psychological violence!
- It also creates an additional suspect class of permanent suspects where some will be presumed guilty!
#SB403 unfairly targets & maligns South Asian Californians for disparate treatment on the basis of their national origin, ethnicity & ancestry undermining the very laws it seeks to amend
It ethnically profiles & codifies false, negative claims about South Asians & minorities.
The amended version of #SB403 makes it worse!
This bill, as written, denies South Asians equal protection, due process & rights to privacy & association.
The fundamental, fatal flaw remains that it is an unlawful, unconstitutional bill.

#JUSTIN | #SB403Amended | But still unacceptable.
Facing unprecedented opposition from South Asian Americans, Sen. Wahab’s office amended #SB403 removing some offensive language.
But not enough. It is still #unconstitutional.
@HinduAmerican’s point-by-point rebuttal:
@sreeenidhi In USA, tax rate is same for people stuck in #greencardbacklog as US citizens which is crazy.
Indians are only about 1% of US populations but still pays about 6% of the taxes. Still the most discriminated when it comes to immigration system. https://t.co/F2u94VMyFs
They forgot to add “a philanthropist and a father”. And “an entrepreneur who contributed to economic growth of Uttar Pradesh”.
It’s hard to read @guardian@Reuters feed, and @BBCNews with a straight face these days.
For the uninitiated, these two were among the most dreaded gangsters of Uttar Pradesh who had killed scores and forced hundreds out of their homes and properties, just because they wanted to. There are HUNDREDS of articles about these crimes in local and national media of India going back three decades.
But these world-class purveyors of news had no idea of any of those crimes. That or someone hacked into their editorial department to sully their good name by distorting their headlines.
