@markgurman They should drop the names. They were a cool way of marketing them when they were paid upgrades. Lest not forget the first two Mac OS X versions didn’t have public cat names, 10.0 and 10.1 were called Cheetah and Puma but it was 10.2 Jaguar that started the public naming trend.
@valigo That’s on XP. On 95/98 the user had to manually go to a Windows Update website using Internet Explorer and manually download updates. In 3.1 and earlier there was no such thing as updates, you just used your computer for years and the UI/UX and apps never changed.
@Techjunkie_Aman Microsoft tried this 10+ years ago with Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile. It sounded great on paper but failed spectacularly IRL. I think Google has a better chance at making it.
@tgod34748 Not true, they just got the tvOS 26.5 update a couple of weeks ago. If you mean without a new, unnecessary newer model, then yes. My 1323 day old dedicated device is still the current model and does the job better now than 1323 days ago, thanks to regular updates.
