@nachovidal485@DrRebeccaTidy@FieldyJay Seems fair then tbh. Teachers shouldn’t have to pay premium holiday prices either. We have children knowing school holidays, same as teachers knowing holidays. So time out should be the same for all parties imo.
@nachovidal485@DrRebeccaTidy@FieldyJay Out of genuine interest, how would you feel if the teacher took a holiday during term time and the children had supply teaching for that time? For clarity, I think you should be able to take children out during term time for a reasonable time.
The idea that independent schooling creates or fosters inequality in our society is complete nonsense.
The schools that people attend reflect pre-existing inequalities. Some families can afford the fees; others can't. Some families can afford homes near the best state schools; others can't. Either way, the schooling received (independent or state) reflects existing inequality of means. It's a result of that inequality, not a cause.
As for the entrenchment issue, school fees cost money. Abolish independent schooling and your inevitable primary achievement is to make all of the former independent school families considerably richer, largely at the expense of existing state school families. Does that help your cause? Of course not.
Meanwhile, those families will still be engaged in significant levels of home schooling on top of formal education and they'll still have all the same career and social contacts. There's nothing you can do about that, but now they'll also have more money for tutors or other academic support.
Finally, if your argument had any force at all, we'd see the existing state system delivering a high level of equality already. After all, it educates about 93% of the population, so idependent education is hardly relevant to the issue. The fact that state schooling is almost ubiquitous but has manifestly failed to deliver the equality that you value over everything else, including the welfare of children and the freedom of parents to decide what is best for their own offspring, proves that your desire to destroy independent schooling will never deliver the outcome you want, so you may as well give up.
The best thing that we could do to improve standards generally and thereby drive greater equality within the education system would be to introduce school vouchers and make independent schooling available to far more people, but that's the polar opposite of your simplistic, ill-conceived plans.
@Janroweljmu I know someone who owns 2 care homes, the company they are under paid for her divorce (over £100k), school fees and she pays her in-education children a monthly salary each of £1k (for no work).
A summer term thank you on behalf of @compliantschool.

@TomD12094771@papaorg Agreed. And making up loads of lies. Favouritism seems heavily weighted towards the mother, even when the children don’t always want to be with them. The children end up hurt and lose out on a relationship. Awful.
@TomD12094771@papaorg My brother is in the middle of this. Social services say 50:50 custody & that one child (8) is scared of his mother, but the court is allowing the mother to choose custody as she likes, changing it daily. Seems courts aren’t always fair. Debt looms.

"Ending the tax breaks private schools"
Freedom of information request reveals there NO PLACES in state schools in Years 9-11 for children whose parents can't afford the increased fees.
12% of Surrey kids are in private schools, (meaning their parents pay taxes for state places they to date have not taken up). If they are taken out of private schools they are now the responsibility of Surrey Council, which has NO ROOM for them.
@MartinSLewis 14 year old. £10 PW. We pay for any meals out she has with her friends (lunch in town etc). She is expected to do her school work to a high standard. That is her role at this age. She does clear the table, keep her room tidy but PM is not tied to this.
