"For we did not act in a disorderly way among you, nor did we eat food received free from anyone. On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day we worked, so as not to burden any of you." (2 Thessalonians 3.7)
Most of what we pass on to our kids is the ocean we swim in, that we do not notice. Such as our neighborhoods, our genes, and the implicit assumptions of our analyses. We mostly fail re the things that we notice about ourselves, and purposely try to pass on.
@n00buntu@SF6frames AI rules in robots.txt are followed by the main LLMs
tried to ask an LLM to pull frame data from supercombo or other sites, it said it failed to do so, blocked by sites' config
but I guess here the problem/source was different
@PedroOtaviano6@carnagencc@A0TUBA >> I’m sure she’s gonna get nerf

Ingrid came pre-nerfed out of the box. At that range the Manon should just sweep on reaction, not jump or block, no?
Or is there something I haven't understood?
> So why suddenly complain when [AI companies] actually find a use for [the intellectual commons]?
The suddenness and intensity of the complaint corresponds to the scale and importance of the use, I think.
The best j'accuse I've read is @cmuratori's (and @ericweinstein's Coasian Rights critique which is different but comparable).
To simplify: It is a matter of goodwill and fairness.
- Artificial intelligence companies have raised epochal amounts of capital.
- AI ingests the knowledge commons, establishing a proprietary monopoly over access to it.
- AI's business model relies entirely on knowledge artefacts produced by specific identifiable individuals.
- AI is marketed as a machine that will render the skills and knowledge of those selfsame creators obsolete.
- AI frequently engages in high-valuation mergers and startup acquisitions.
- It is therefore reasonable for humans to require that AI compensates the creators of the knowledge artefacts humans created, particularly as AI now determines the market price of those artefacts.
In one world, some of us are writing vast amounts of code every day using AI, including some of the most famous programmers I know. In another world, I am informed that there is no evidence that AI can successfully write code! Which group is hallucinating?

Anyway, thank you to the buff American military men who were the first on scene and on the front lines when Islamist terrorists had my friends trapped in a mall.
This is a good illustration of a general principle:
As you build new high-end apartments, people move up, freeing up supply of lower-tier apartments.
Building luxury housing thus lowers downmarket rents. You don't need to build 'affordable housing' to make housing affordable.
@Scratch_Point_Z > High trust is […] a society built by people with a high average intellect […]
🤝
I've paraphrased for emphasis, but this is fundamentally the problem with Africa. (Genetic problems can be engineered away in a generation if the truth were accepted.) https://t.co/hQ7B8lNRZY
@Scratch_Point_Z@Calebclind231@JaAmfan > talking to Africans is pointless
Identity activism has blinded Africans to the sheer severity of the dire cognitive challenge on the continent. All the cognitive elite bloodlines were exported wholesale to America, Europe, Asia post-independence. https://t.co/AD82y082bP
@_ParkerBryant@teortaxesTex > worth a temporary increase […] prices
Even if we assume price increases are permanent, the fact remains that the future belongs to men with vision and the will to pursue that vision.
Everything else is a calculation of costs and how (in)correctly we estimate risk-reward.
@Vocsolo@pmarca > self destructive how?
The ancient religions codified human self-destructive proclivities (religion being the philosophy that helps those of us who can't answer these questions for ourselves).
They are:
- Pride
- Greed
- Lust
- Anger
- Gluttony
- Envy
- Sloth
@pmarca >> someone lacking prestige and credentials who they consider frighteningly intelligent.
> The trick is to find the ones who aren’t self-destructive.

"They need intelligence or they’ll head in the wrong direction. They need energy because the world is full of smart, lazy people. And they need integrity or you’ll have a smart and hard working crook, who’ll eventually cheat you."

@Ecolin131671@BuffGigas > People acting like tekken was made by a cabal of 5 people
The FGC will chastise faceless BigCo, then simultaneously bellyache about staff turnover as though the game were being made by Indie Developer down the road. 😂
It's a publicly traded company! https://t.co/dMA5OHUaEH
20 years. That's not just time — it's a huge chapter of #TEKKEN history. @nkt_dreamer helped write it, alongside those who came before and the community that made it matter.
Grateful for everything you built and left behind for us to carry forward.
From here, the @TEKKEN_Project moves forward as one. Not just a few people — but all of us, fully committed, moving together.
Built by many fists🤜, carried by many souls🔥. The journey continues. See you for the next battle!!
But you can, actually, predict some things. Such as: every interesting facet of the technocapital will require energy. Also likely atoms, construction and logistics.

@SebAaltonen@LinusEkenstam > Africa is going to be the next China after some decades.
It won't. The missing factor is Human Capital.
Africa has not industrialized.
African productivity is low.
Without genetic cognitive intervention Africa will remain Africa.
The Chinese have annexed so maybe hope.
