Mark Carney's response to President Trump >>
"This name dates back more than 400 years, well before the Canadian Confederation and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. We know that the United States is changing. Their trade relations, their foreign policy, their national monuments, their hydronyms. Canadian women and men also know that things must be called by their name, and this lake is called Lake Ontario – today and forever."

"As a pediatrician with more than 30 years of caring for children, I have thoroughly reviewed the case investigation information and sadly can confirm that there were two recent measles-associated deaths in Lancaster County, which were reported to the CDC’s measles response team early Tuesday morning.
DOH’s Epidemiology team thoroughly investigated and verified both individuals tested positive for measles. The information was not reported to the public until the results of the epidemiological investigations were confirmed.
Under state law, PA DOH is not required to report deaths to coroners.
Our staff have regular meetings with professional staff at the CDC, including additional meetings specifically about these cases — in fact, as recently as this afternoon. I deeply appreciate the supportive working relationship between the PA DOH and CDC professional staff.
As a pediatrician, public health professional, and mother, my heart goes out to the impacted families and I have, and will continue to do, everything in my power to protect their confidentiality."
- Dr. Debra Bogen, Secretary of Health
Every video emerging from Nepal is somehow even scarier than the last. A peaceful valley under a bright, completely normal sky and then suddenly look at how that wall of gushing water sweeps away everything in its path. #Nepal

Scientists told the New York Times that the flash flooding in Nepal/Tibet was likely caused by a 2,000-foot-wide chunk of ice that broke off of a glacier and fell around 4,000 feet to the valley below

My last conversation with Tim Curry was about life and love and laughter. The grim physical state he found himself in has now ended, a blessing. Our blessing was that we had Tim Curry in our lives. RIP, my friend.
Among the most terrifying videos I've ever seen. Hundreds missing.
This was along the Bhotekoshi River along the Nepal/Tibet border around 9 a.m. local time. Hundreds missing.
A 4.4 magnitude quake induced a mudslide/landslide that must have un-dammed a body of water. (That can include even a natural dam that was preventing a large volume of water from rushing downhill.)
Breaking: "Meta has agreed to settle claims brought by 29 state attorneys general that it intentionally designed addictive platforms that harmed young people’s mental health," @claresduffy reports https://t.co/7gexG84FN9
This is insane footage of the massive mudslide at the Nepal-China border earlier today: the mudslide, originating from Nepal, seems to have basically completely obliterated the border port in Gyirong (吉隆), Shigatse City, Tibet/Xizang.
We're likely looking at one of the worst mudslides in China's history, really bad tragedy.
For having myself lived in Nepal during several months (in the middle of the devastating 2015 earthquake!), probably the place in the world where nature is the scariest.
