To me, a postmortem report is often the victim’s final voice. The victim can no longer tell us what happened, but the injuries do. My eyes became teary while reading it. The report recorded injuries to her face and a deep wound to her neck. A major artery had been cut, causing severe blood loss that ultimately led to her death.
What disturbed me most was not the medical findings. It was the thought that all of this happened to an eight year old child. I find myself wondering whether any conviction, however severe, can truly deliver justice to this little soul.
