I can’t believe what I’m seeing: Dillon Brooks is collabing with Underdog on a SGA-themed Operation game.
“If you touch him, it’s a foul.” Unbelievable. 😭
Chris Finch is a playoff riser. What a gameplan, and perfectly executed by the team. The way the Wolves defended Wemby was remarkable. Big test for Mitch Johnson and the Spurs to adjust.
Very important aspect of coaching that if one can consistently hit the mark without wearing the technique out....fun to see teams become more than the sum of their parts in most cases.
Minnesota Timberwolves' Coach Chris Finch on the "Boogeyman" Mentality, the stories we tell ourselves, and taking things too seriously as a form of self motivation:
⛽️ Take it personal, but aim it inward. When you feel disrespected, overlooked, or challenged, don’t leak that energy outward, channel it into preparation, discipline, and standards that are designed to make your opponent's life hell between the lines. Personal isn’t always pettiness, it can be fuel too.
📚 The story you tell yourself becomes the standard you live up to. If your inner narrative is soft, your habits will be too. But when you turn that story into a rallying cry like the @Timberwolves did with "THEY CHOSE US!", it sharpens your collective focus and gives your effort meaning. Did the Nuggets really choose them? Maybe, maybe not. Reality isn't relevant in the story you tell yourself to get your motor going. Good leaders don’t wait for motivation, they author it.
🧟♂️ Become the horror movie opponent no one forgets. That reminder should come not through noise, but through presence, relentless effort, physicality, and consistency that shows up every rep. The “boogeyman” isn’t a persona, it’s a pattern of habits your team displays. When you do the hard things over and over, your reputation starts speaking before you ever do.
Motivation isn’t about what’s true necessarily, it’s about what you’re willing to believe strongly enough to act on relentlessly, until your habits turn that story into something real your opponent has to face.
Kevin Garnett on how he would guard Victor Wembanyama if he was in the league right now:
“So, first off Victor is probably the most complex player to guard because your pickup point has to be right at half court. So, I mean, I had to guard a guy Yao Ming. I’m not comparing Victor to Yao Ming, but Yao Ming was obviously 6, 7 fu*king inches taller than me and was just super long, right? So whenever he went to go shoot, it was when he went there stand and go, you know, to release and he had a loft on his shot. So it wasn’t like you gonna block it. So I would have to what we call do all work early. I would meet Wemby early. He likes to finish left-handed. He can finish both hands. I would give him the jump shot then just contest. And when he spin, I’m poking at the ball. You got to remember when he dribbles his waist is probably right at your face or while he has to be down to dribble. I would really distort his dribble pattern. I would make him spin because he’s not as durable and, you know, he has to be able to put all that 7’4 down and then gather it to spin…. And I would be talking hella sh*t and then on the other end, I’m trying to put it on his head.”

Jaden McDaniels on the Denver rivalry
"Yeah, you could say it's a rivalry. — I don't know if we can anymore after we beat them, like, 2, 3 times, but it's cool."
"You're saying that they can't be in your class anymore bc you guys have gotten the last 2 series?"
"Basically."
@_MNMuse JC obviously played in some Becker men's league games...he knows...you only have to take 1 shot & your teammates better be there & have your back by then! 😂
Jaden McDaniels, Terrence Shannon Jr, and Rudy Gobert combined for:
66 points
29 rebounds
14 assists
And the most important stat of them all?
0 turnovers
Jaden McDaniels belongs in the Trash Talk Hall of Fame. Not often someone backs it up like this.
32 points on 13/25 FG
10 rebounds
3 assists + 0 turnovers
2 steals + 1 block
Locked down Murray again
Shorthanded Wolves win Game 6 and advance. What a performance.
Amen...sure, they're can be even unwritten rules to an extent but doesn't mean everyone needs to follow them & guys should never be penalized for playing to the whistle...just got to get over it.
If you are going to intentionally foul not once but twice down 12 with 33 seconds...and shoot a 3 with 10.4 seconds (Murray could have dribbled the clock out)...you shouldn't be complaining about a layup at the end of the game. I'm just saying.
Paul Pierce says the way Minnesota beat Denver felt like, when you was a little kid and you was in trouble and you was on that car ride home with your mama and she telling you how she going to whoop your a**:
“And you sitting there anticipating it. You like damn. This is like that right there. And there’s levels to a** whooping. So if you a 70s baby, early 80s, you’ll get me on this. There’s levels to a** whoopings. There’s belt to a**. There’s slipper or shoe. There’s switch and there’s extension cord. They got that extension cord, my boy.”

Closed circuit to the Minnesota high school basketball communities. Now, more than ever, if you support your head coaches, let that be known with your administration louder than you ever have. If you don’t, the vocal minority will continue to negatively impact MN basketball.
@DaneMooreNBA Maybe too much of curveball take, but sometimes Finch can go nontraditional. Does Ju get cooked so bad defensively, if they can hold up rebounding wise. He gains significantly more offensive advantage on other end forcing Joker to guard, so could see a game of Rudy playing less?
