'I began to see chess almost like an art form, the mathematical elegance of when people make really brilliant moves and you can see an idea kind of unfolding on the board.'

@eoin_price Slightly surprised you’ve not heard back. But imagine that is editor-specific rather than press

@Asda what’s up with this clearly very non-smooth peanut butter?

@TheBookerPrizes longlist has been announced, and Samantha Harvey's 'Orbital' has made the cut. I can't recommend this book highly enough--the best I've read over the last 12 months! https://t.co/1cyxjBLEnu

Very sad to hear about the passing yesterday of Edna O’Brien. One of my favourite novelists, and someone whose ‘scandal’ belied her genius. If you haven’t, go read ‘The Country Girls Trilogy’! https://t.co/HSmBohK2l6

@eoin_price But only at the right time

Excited to share that I've signed a contract with @BloomsburyBooks to publish my next book, 'Guarding Death and Affirming Life in John Banville's Fiction'. Huge thanks to @AmyMartinOHNY! Can't wait (!) to dive into themes like ageing, murder, and the death-drive. Stay tuned! 📚✨

@cjdenial I don't have the factual details for this, but apocryphally: Amid Labour MP arguments after the 1945 election as to who should become PM, Clement Attlee's wife, Violet, bundled her husband into a car and got him to the palace first to receive the request from HM George VI.

[Nick Taylor-Collins @n_taylorcollins]

@GCSE_Macbeth JG Ballard's 'Crash'. I wrote to him about it, and he sent me a handwritten letter by reply. He tried to warn me off!
