NASA's New Horizons spacecraft captured a near-sunset view of Pluto's rugged mountains and icy plains.

The image features the icy plain Sputnik Planum, flanked by the Norgay Montes and Hillary Montes.

Backlighting reveals over a dozen haze layers in Pluto's atmosphere. The scene, taken from 11,000 miles away, spans 780 miles.
