Maybe we’ve lived a thousand lives before this one and in each of them we have found each other. I know I have spent each life before this one searching for you. Not someone like you but you, for your soul and mine must always come together.
"You're okay," I quietly tell myself.
"You've survived harder days than this."
It's become a habit now, being my own reassurance whenever the memories get too loud. People say London is a city where love stories begin. I believe them. Mine began here too.
London has always been one of the most romantic places in the world to me. The old streets, the quiet parks, the soft drizzle that seemed to arrive without warning. At least, that's what it used to be. Before everything changed. Before my heart learned what it meant to break.
"So... we really made it back here."
The words leave my lips so softly that they're almost carried away by the wind. I thought coming back would feel exciting, but instead, it feels like opening a book I never wanted to read again.
London remembers us.
I folded my arms and gave her my best pout. "I think I'm melting." She tilted her head and gave me those impossibly sweet puppy eyes. "Please?" I stared at her for a second before groaning dramatically. "You know that's cheating, right? You can't look at me like that."
The rooftop garden was glowing under the afternoon sun, surrounded by patches of greenery that softened the city's skyline. "Okay," she said with a bright smile, pointing toward the bench. "Sit right there."
I looked up at the blazing sun and let out the most dramatic sigh I could manage. "Irina... it's so hot. Are you trying to roast your boyfriend alive?" She laughed, "Just one picture." I sigh, "you said 'just one picture' ten minutes ago." She's pout, "That was a different spot."

Passenger princess on the way to the event, and I just know my girlfriend would be obsessed with this look. Too bad she’s not here to see it in person.
After a while, he came back to me, slightly out of breath, and climbed onto my lap. “Princess is safe now,” he said proudly. I kissed his forehead softly. “Thank you, my brave prince.” He looked up at me, then nodded slowly. “Yeah… you’re my princess.”
“Hey, Yijin… Do you want to play something fun?” He peeked at me, still suspicious. “What game?” I leaned closer and whispered dramatically, “Let’s play prince and princess.” His eyes lit up instantly. “I’m the prince!” I smiled. “And I’ll be the princess who needs protecting.”
“Don’t worry, princess! I will save you!” I placed a hand on my chest, pretending to be amazed. “Oh no, the dragon is coming! Prince Yijin, what should we do?” He shouted “I fight it!”, swinging his imaginary sword. I laughed, watching him run back and forth.
“You always find poetry in ordinary moments.”
“Maybe,” I shrugged. “But I think that’s what makes life feel fuller. Appreciating a good dinner. A quiet night. Good company.” She leaned forward slightly. “So this is your idea of a perfect evening?”
I nodded without hesitation.
“Do you ever feel like nights like this make everything seem… more beautiful?”
“I get what you mean. The night makes everything slower.” I smiled. “During the day, everything feels rushed. But at night, I feel like I can admire things more. Even small things.”
“Like your martini?” she teased. “Excuse me, this martini deserves admiration. It’s life-changing.” we both laughed.
“You seem really happy tonight,” she observed gently. “I think I am. There’s something about peaceful nights that makes me grateful.”
