@quietaxioms @Adriksh It’s a special file implemented in the kernel. When a process opens it and calls write(), the kernel’s handler returns the # of bytes “written” w/o storing anything; data is discarded immediately. Reading from it returns EOF instantly, as if it were an empty file.

@Adriksh It’s not “hardcoded” in the filesystem sense. It’s provided by the kernel’s device driver layer and made accessible via the `/dev` directory. But the behavior itself is baked into the kernel source, so “hardcoded” is fair in spirit.
