Estonia just cut off transit of russian and belarusian grain. Tsahkna described the move as a refusal to fund war.

Correct move. The larger scandal is that roughly a third of that grain was never Russian or Belarusian at all.

It was stolen from occupied Ukraine, laundered through their ports, and sold as their own. Every ton that moved through Estonia was revenue for the war machine and a subsidy for the occupation economy.

Closing the route hits both. Now the EU needs to follow, because as long as one border stays open, the theft continues.

"An attack must come at a high cost," Bergqvist said. According to him, this is not about preemptive strikes but deterrence: a potential aggressor must understand that hostilities will not remain confined to Swedish territory.

A key element of the concept would be integrating Taurus KEPD cruise missiles onto JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets. The missiles have a range of more than 500 km and are designed, in particular, to strike hardened targets. The military is also asking the government for missiles with a range of up to 2,000 km. For comparison, Stockholm is about 1,200 km from Moscow.

Ukraine’s experience in the war has pushed Stockholm to rethink its strategy: deep strikes on logistics, command centers, and air bases can disrupt an enemy operation at an early stage.

In addition to long-range strikes, the concept calls for dispersing aircraft and using sections of highways for takeoffs and landings. Sweden also plans to strengthen air defenses, counter-drone capabilities, and reconnaissance using drones and satellites.
