Does loan against MF make sense for you? So far it had very few takers, because it is not high margin for banks. But some fintechs/NBFCs are changing that. Here's the case for it:

1) Interest rates of 9-11%, less than personal or credit card online

2) Quick online approval via CAMS/ Kfin integration

3) Acts as an OD - you can pay off whenever 

4) Stops early redemption for short term needs 

5) Your MFs compound. You pay less tax.

The case against? How often do MF returns exceed 10% on a 1 yr basis? Just 50% of the time, past data shows. You can roll forward the loan, till MF recovers, but there can be long dry spells of no returns.
