Some very specific advice for founders, or really anyone presenting an idea in a meeting:
You may think you’re really great at storytelling or speaking off the cuff. You are not. In nearly a decade of investing (and many years of interviewing people before) I can count on one hand how many people can walk into a meeting without a prepared deck or talk track and have a sophisticated conversation about their idea in a way that does it justice.
“But I never use a deck or script and I’ve raised X!”
It’s not about “the deck” or the script. It’s about presenting a narrative that’s been practiced, polished, and having key details ready to go any minute so you can display a macro and micro understanding of your idea or company. And controlling the meeting to present your idea in the best possible way.
Never go into a meeting and say “Would you like me to use a deck? Should we just talk freely?”
No! Do exactly what has worked for you before, or do the thing that presents the idea in the best way.
For most almost everyone, you are a better storyteller with a deck or some form of narrative scaffolding, and with intense practice of that narrative.
The best storytellers are so practiced it doesn’t sound like a script. That’s a skill, not a gift. It can be learned.

“The wages of sin are death”. Thats heavy knowledge right there! All of us are born into sin, BUT the son of God lived a completely sinless life, won the victory over satan in the garden, and STILL experienced death on the cross. All for us. Tmw I celebrate His victory over death
