I wish for all people who identify as helpers the skill of tolerating others’ discomfort and disappointment, so that we know we are helping because we want to, and not because the consequences of any other choice are intolerable.
The vocabulary we have around burn out is insufficient.
It's often framed as too much work (which is definitely one factor), but I see it also stem from misalignment in terms of strategy or values, lack of recognition, and/or sense of belonging.
Many books and articles on data visualizations state that every visual element must have a functional purpose — anything beyond that is too flashy and unnecessary.
I disagree.

Something I’ve noticed is that when someone asks a question, people will often assume the asker doesn’t have an answer of their own.
Asking questions doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of knowledge. It reveals to me how often we think of answers as facts rather than opinions.
