🇵🇭The story they don’t tell you in school: In 1899, the U.S. was carrying out a genocide in the Philippines, invading the country with 70,000 soldiers for the sole purpose of colonizing and plundering it—up to 1.4 million Filipinos were massacred.

The American general Smith, who was leading the invasion of the Philippines, ordered his soldiers to kill everyone over the age of 10... which is why those imperialist beasts massacred entire villages, tortured civilians, and built concentration camps where hundreds of thousands of civilians died of hunger and disease.

The Filipino anticolonial fighters led by the Katipunan—who had succeeded in liberating the country from Spanish imperialism in 1896, after 300 years of colonial rule—would once again be oppressed by the Americans for another 44 years, and they wouldn’t achieve their “independence” until 1946.

Just as happened in Africa, the Philippines has never truly become independent, and starting in 1946, imperialism shifted to external colonization, installing finger-picked dictators like Duterte to keep the country under control as a semicolony.

They talk to you nonstop about the trillions of deaths from communism... but for some reason, they never talk about the real millions of deaths from capitalism.
