Awareness Program on Anti-Drug Campaign for Students in Nalgonda

As part of International Anti-Drug Awareness Week, an awareness program on drug prevention was held for students at Chinna Venkat Reddy Function Hall in Nalgonda town. Addressing the event, District SP Sharath Chandra Pawar IPS emphasized that youth should not fall into the trap of drugs, as it leads to addiction and destruction of life. He urged students to focus on their goals and act as Anti-Drug Soldiers by staying away from drugs and reporting any information related to drug supply or usage.

He warned that drug usage not only ruins physical and mental health but also leads to criminal behavior, financial distress, and social stigma. A single drug-related case can destroy future career opportunities and travel abroad. The SP mentioned that strict action is being taken under NDPS Act, 1985, against those using or supplying drugs.

He appealed to the public to report drug-related activities through the toll-free number 8712670266. The session concluded with students taking a pledge to actively participate in the fight against drugs.

Monsoon Preparedness: District SP Supports Traffic Police and Home Guards

As the monsoon season begins, District SP Sharath Chandra Pawar IPS emphasized the importance of smooth traffic flow in towns and directed traffic police to perform duties effectively. To help them operate efficiently during rains, the SP distributed raincoats, jungle shoes, umbrellas, radium reflective jackets, goggles, and body-worn cameras to the traffic personnel.

He stressed that traffic police play a key role in visible policing and should regulate traffic responsibly, interact courteously with the public, and raise awareness about road safety and traffic rules to prevent accidents. He instructed them to stay present at their assigned traffic points, especially during rainy and nighttime duties, with the help of the provided traffic kits.

Additionally, the SP extended financial assistance from the Home Guard Welfare Fund — ₹15,000 each to families of three deceased home guards, ₹10,000 each to five undergoing medical treatment, ₹5,000 each to two for their children's marriages, and merit scholarships of ₹5,000 each to three children. He assured continued efforts for the welfare of home guards and urged them to bring any issues to his attention.

Minors Addicted to Social Media Reels & Marijuana Arrested for Drug Peddling and House Thefts: Nalgonda Police
In a major breakthrough in curbing narcotics and property crimes, Nalgonda district police arrested two minor boys, a drug peddler, and a woman accomplice involved in marijuana distribution and a series of house burglaries. The arrests were made under the leadership of District Superintendent of Police Sri Sharath Chandra Pawar, IPS.
Items Seized:
•17 tolas of gold
•79 tolas of silver
•2 kg of marijuana worth ₹50,000
•Pulsar NS-200 bike
•Sharp weapons (knife and iron rod)
•Total seizure value: Approximately ₹20 lakhs
Case Details:
On June 30, 2025, a house burglary case was reported (https://t.co/DNW38ImVpP: 218/2025) by retired IFS officer Gali Yadayya, who stated that 22 tolas of gold and 80 tolas of silver were stolen from his residence.
Following this complaint, SP Sharath Chandra Pawar directed CI and SI of Narketpally PS to investigate the case. On July 6, 2025, at 5:00 AM, based on credible information, police conducted a raid near Reddayya Factory on the outskirts of Narketpally village, where four suspects (including a woman) were apprehended while planning to sell marijuana.
Upon interrogation, the accused admitted that they had planned to earn easy money by buying and selling 2 kg of marijuana and by committing burglaries at locked houses during nighttime. A woman named Erick Wilson Marina was found assisting them.
Accused Details:
1.Minor boy (16 yrs) – dropped out of 9th grade
2.Minor boy (14 yrs) – studying in 9th grade
3.Bajapalli Joseph (20 yrs) – Flower decorator, r/o Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Nagole, Hyderabad
4.Erick Wilson Marina (25 yrs) – Private employee, r/o Thatti Annaram, Nagole, Hyderabad
5.Bose – r/o Nagole (Absconding)
6.Malik – r/o Odisha (Absconding)
Legal Action:
A case has been registered at Narketpally Police Station under https://t.co/DNW38ImVpP. 233/2025 with sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act 1985 (Amendment 2001). The accused were produced in court.
Criminal Background:
•5 cases already registered at Narketpally PS (4 House break-ins, 1 NDPS case)
•1 case at Jawahar Nagar PS for house burglary
The investigation revealed that the minors were addicted to marijuana and influenced by short-form videos (reels) on social media. A close relative of one minor resides in the Narketpally area, giving the gang local knowledge to target locked houses.
They also carried deadly weapons, indicating a willingness to use violence if confronted during thefts.
District SP's Warning:
SP Sharath Chandra Pawar warned that strict legal action will be taken not only against those who supply and sell drugs but also against those who consume them. He emphasized that youth should stay away from drug addiction, which can ruin their futures.
Public Awareness:
The SP urged the public to install CCTV cameras in their homes, shops, and neighborhoods, as they are critical in deterring crime and assisting investigations. He reassured that round-the-clock patrols and special teams have been formed to monitor known offenders and prevent thefts in the district.

As part of the weekly Grievances Day held every Monday for the convenience of the public, District SP Shri Sharath Chandra Pawar IPS interacted directly with 68 petitioners from various parts of the district at the District Police Office. SP sir spoke to the concerned officials over the phone and instructed them to take immediate action on the complaints to ensure speedy justice for the victims.
SP sir stated that the police department is working with the aim of resolving public issues and bringing the police closer to the people. SP sir mentioned that complainants visiting police stations are being treated with respect, their petitions are being received properly, and field-level inquiries are being conducted to provide quick justice.
SP sir also appealed to the public to approach the SP office or police stations directly without involving any middlemen and to present their grievances in person.
