Happy to share new progress in AI for Maths @GoogleDeepMind .
In extremal combinatorics, AlphaEvolve has helped establish new lower bounds for FIVE classical Ramsey numbers - a problem so challenging that even Erdős commented on its difficulty.
Historically, computationally deriving these bounds required bespoke, human-designed search algorithms. For many of these bounds, the best previous results are at least a decade old. AlphaEvolve changes this by acting as a single meta-algorithm that automatically discovers the search procedures needed to find these new bounds. 📷
Thank you for pushing me to the very limit so many times in our rivalry that has impacted me the most as a player. Your passion for representing Spain has always been remarkable. I wish you best possible farewell in Malaga with Davis Cup team of Spain. I will be there in person to pay respect to your stellar career 🙌💪👏
When I discussed quitting Google to do a Phd, my manager, Steve Cheng, gave me the advice of "6 shots": Doing something meaningful usually takes about 5 years and we are productive for roughly 30 years. That gives you 6 attempts. So pick each one carefully and give it your best.
No matter what layer of the control stack you work on, this workshop is for you! With an absolutely 🔥🔥🔥 speaker lineup spanning formal methods, motion planning, feedback control, embedded systems, and how they fit together, this is a can't miss at @IEEECDC2024!
Absolutely astounding to think about what spatial intelligence has enabled… generate an infinite scene from an image, a 360 view of a 3D furnished room from text, perform a wide range of tasks with a robot arm, remotely brain control a robot cook, etc.
To think that only 2 years ago, I was sitting in the basement of CSAIL writing MILP algorithms to allow robot arms to assemble various warehouse items in a generalizable way without the gift of vision or multimodal learning to deal with more complex tasks.

Daniil Medvedev says his goal against Jannik Sinner was to show him that he’s always gonna be there to fight, ‘It was important to show that I’m always gonna be there… I’m always gonna make your life difficult’
“How did you process your loss to change the outcome of the match today?”
Daniil: “For me what was important today was.. I lost 5 times to him. A lot of close matches and the last one was super easy. It can happen, it’s okay. For me it was important to come out today and show that ‘Look.. we’re gonna play probably many more times.’ If we’re both on tour, probably semis, quarters, finals. It was important to just show I’m always gonna be there. I’m always gonna fight. I’m always gonna try to make your life difficult. Maybe you’re gonna win more. Maybe I’m gonna win more. I don’t know. But I’m gonna fight. Even if he won today, the goal was to show him that every time, I’m gonna be there to fight and to win. Today I managed to do it. Doesn’t mean next time it’s gonna be the same. The attitude was the same with Carlos last year at the US Open. It’s gonna be the same with Carlos in a couple of days. To be honest.. That’s always my goal. To know that whoever plays against me, they can win or they can lose, but they’re gonna know it’s gonna be a tough fight. It’s gonna be a great match. Great for fans, great for me, great for my opponent.”
